Obituary- Conger, Loyd
Loyd W. Conger
Loyd W. Conger, 70, Topeka, died Sunday, April 30, 1989 at a Topeka hospital where he was admitted April 17.
Mr. Conger was a truck driver for the Kansas Dept. of Transportation before he retired in 1984. He served with the 464th Bombardment Squadron in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was born Aug. 2, 1918, at Iola, the son of Charles Augusta and Lucy Belle Brannen Conger. He lived in Colony and Overbrook before he moved to Topeka in 1951.
Mr. Conger was a member of Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion at Rossville. He was married to Winifred buckle April 12, 1941 At Iola. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Loyd J. Conger, Tecumseh, and Michael Conger, Topeka; two daughters, Betty Conger, Topeka, and Peggy Baird, Rossville; a sister Lucille Lynch, Yates Center; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Tibbitts-Griffin Funeral Chapel. Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion will conduct graveside services at Rossville Cemetery in Rossville. Mr. Conger will lie in state after 6 p.m. today at the funeral chapel where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
