Porter-Kerwin Wedding April 24 in Delia
Tamela Porter and Kevin Kerwin began their lives together when they were joined in marriage at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 1982, at Sacred Heart Church, Delia, Ks. Father Larry R. Ginzkey officiated the double ring ceremony.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Marion Porter, Maple Hill, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Kerwin, Delia.

The bride, escorted to the altar by her father, wore a white sheer organdy and silk Venice lace dress with a low scoop neck and high empire waist with Venice lace and short cap sleeves. She wore a chapel train enhanced with vertical rows of scalloped lace and flowers. The veil was a walking length, full circle, with a laced edge. The bride carried peach colored roses embedded in angel’s lace.

Noel Miller, Maple Hill, was the matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Darlene McGranahan, sister of the bride, and Jeannine Riddle, a friend of the bride, both from Topeka. They wore floor length gowns in a peach color, trimmed in a darker peach lace. They carried light blue carnations, daisies and peach roses with angel’s lace. They also wore peach roses in their hair. The flower girl was Jennifer McGranahan, niece of the bride. She wore a white knee-lengtn dress with a light pink sash at the waist.

The groom wore a white tuxedo and
bow tie with a light blue shirt.

Best man was Pat Kerwin, a brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Michael Kerwin, brother of the groom, Delia; and Wesley Rezac, friend of the couple, St. Marys. The groomsmen wore light blue tuxedos with white shirts and light blue bow ties. Ring bearer was Bryan Poppelreiter, nephew of the groom, Maple Hill. He wore a white tuxedo and bow tie with a light blue shirt.

Ushers were Michael Porter, brother of the bride, Maple Hill; and Ambrose Ketter, friend of the groom, St. Marys. They wore dark blue pants, vests and bow ties, light blue jackets trimmed in dark blue with white shirts.

Rita Chalfant, Topeka, attended the guest book.

Beverly Martinek provided the music, and Kathy Olejnik was the vocalist.

Dwight Martinek was the reader, and Terry Horak and Dustin Martinek were the servers; all are from Delia.

A reception and dinner at the Rossville American Legion building followed the Mass and ceremony. Marty Ronnau, St. Marys, and Jean Poppelreiter, Maple Hill, sisters of the groom, cut the cake. The punch was served by Cheryl Fink, Topeka, friend of the bride.

The gift table was attended by Charlene Porter, aunt of the bride. Charlene Porter and Rita Chalfant, a friend of the bride, helped serve the dinner. Delores Floersch, a friend of the couple, prepared the food.

A dance was held at the Rossville American Legion building. Music was provided by the “Poverty Pocket Pickets” from Topeka.

Out-of-town relatives were: Pauline Kaullen, Sikeston, Mo.; Janet Foresman, Scottsdale, Ariz.; Barbara, Ann and Jennifer Marshall, Cape Girardeau, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Sisson and Guy, New Memphis, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. James Puskas and Mr. and Mrs. James Puskas, Jr., and Chad, Shawnee; Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Puskas, Overland Park; and Mr. Rusty Puskas and Sonya, Kansas City, Ks.
