Tom Attebury

Tom Attebury, a resident of Rossville community all his life died Saturday at Topeka, where he had been under treatment since an accident the later part of July. He had a broken knee cap and other bruises in the mishap.
He had not been in good health for many months, altho a daily visitor in town. Until his health broke he was actively engaged in farming.
He was born November 11, 1888, west of Rossville, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Cal Orris. His mother died when he was a baby and he was adopted and reared by the late Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Attebury on the farm he and his wife occupied when death came.
He was an ardent fan of all kinds of sports and served many years as local umpire for the ball team. He also was known as a student of parliamentary procedure and knew all angles of the science.
He was a member of the Methodist church of Rossville, a past master of the Hesperian Lodge No. 111 A. F. & A.M. and a past patron of Amaryllis Chapter No. 321 OES.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Jessie Attebury of the home; one sister, Mrs. Gertrude Wallace of Rossville, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Rossville Methodist church with the pastor Rev. Don Jones assisting Rev. Earl Harbaugh of Silver Lake, with the service.
The music was furnished by Mrs. Don Berkey with Mrs. Irene Campbell accompanying at the piano.
Graveside services were conducted by Hesperian lodge.
Pall bearers were James Conley, Albert Coleman, Harley McCoid, Howard French, Clyde Rogers, and Ralph Page.
Burial at Rossville cemetery.
