James Donald ‘J.D.’ Conner
BERRYTON — James Donald Conner, 72, Berryton, died Monday, Oct. 14, 1996, at his home.
Mr. Conner was a ceramic tile layer and a sub-contractor for more than 40 years before he retired in 1985. He formed Con¬ner Tile and Floor Covering Co. in 1961. Mr. Conner served in the navy during World War II in the South Pacific.
He was born Nov. 25, 1923, at Bailey, Okla., the son of James Dayton and Alta Jewell McCoy Conner. He had lived in the Oklahoma City area before he moved to Topeka in 1956.
Mr. Conner was a former member of the National Clock Association.
He was married to Lois Marie Lyon on May 4, 1945, at Oklahoma City. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Don; Conner, Johnson City, Tenn., and Ron D., Conner, Rossville; a daughter, Sharon M. ’ Smith, Rossville; his mother, Alta Jewell Conner, Oklahoma City; a sister, Lucille' Ward, Oklahoma City; a brother, Dale Con¬ner, Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Conner will lie in state from 1 p.m. today to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Parker-Price Mortuary where relatives and friends will meet from 8 to 9 p.m. today.
