DEATH CLAIMS A PIONEER SETTLER OF COMMUNITY
Mrs. Barbria Conrad passed away very suddenly last Friday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Martin Burke, in Kansas City, Mo., at the age of 77 years, 1 month and 2 days.
Barbria Leonhardt was born at Samanvoka, Russia, January 6th, 1847. In the year 1868 she was married to Nichalas Conrad and to this union eleven children were born, five of who survive her. There are also 20 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
On July 4, 1876, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad came to Kansas and located at Topeka. Three months later they settled at St. Marys where they made their home since.
Funeral services were held in Kansas City, Mo., Monday morning and interment was made in the Catholic cemetery Monday afternoon.
The surviving children are Mrs. Elizabeth Beckler, Denver, Colo., Mr. George Conrad, Rossville, Kansas, Mrs. Anna Gestner, Hays, Kansas, Mrs. Mary Burke, Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Rose Gestner, Hays City, Kan., also a brother Mr. Henry Leonhardt, of Hays City, Kansas.
