Golden Anniversary For Baumchen Couple
Dan and Iona Baumchen, St. Marys, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, August 7. A reception is scheduled from 2-4 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church Centennial Building, 208 West Bertrand, St. Marys. Hosts will be the couple’ s children and their spouses: Chris and Bill Pannbacker, Washington, Paul and LuAnn Baumchen, Lawrence, John Baumchen and Angela Safranek, Encampment, WY, Anne and Larry Fitzgerald, Lawrence, Mary Baumchen, Sunrise Beach, MO, Joe and Marianne Baumchen, Topeka, and George and Libby Baumchen, Durango, CO. The Baumchens have 11 grandchildren: Jake and Molly Pannbacker, Washing ton, Colin and Cameron Baumchen, Hallie and Luke Fitzgerald, Lawrence, Megan Baumchen, Sunrise Beach, MO, Deven Baumchen, Topeka, Will and Jesse Baumchen, Encampment, WY, and Zane Baumchen, Durango, CO.

The family will attend a Mass of Thanksgiving at 5 p.m.

Dan Baumchen and Iona Graf were married August 7, 1954, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Emmett.

Mr. Baumchen retired in 1987, after working 42 years as a telegrapher-station agent for the Union Pacific Railroad. He worked in Wamego, Clay Center, St. Marys, and Topeka.

Mrs. Baumchen retired as an elementary teacher at St. Marys Grade School in 1995.
