Obituary- Zielinski, Gerald
Gerald D. “Ski" Zielinski
BURLINGAME, KS - Gerald D. "Ski" Zielinski, 67, Burlingame, died Saturday, May 5, 2007, at his home. He was born April 30, 1940, at Wausau, Wisconsin, the son of Joseph S. and Verna Fierek Zielinski. He grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He served in the United States Air Force, and was stationed at Forbes Air Base, Topeka.
He was a foreman for Del Monte Foods for 17 years, and later was a courier for Pony Express Delivery. He retired from the City of Burlingame as the Municipal Power Plant Operator, after 11 years of service.
He married Marilyn Shogren, March 18,1962. She survives at the home. Other survivors include, two daughters and their hus¬bands, Kathy and Doug Wood, Rossville, and Tammy and Derron Lindsey, Topeka; a son and his wife, Jerry and Angela Zielinski, Burlingame; two brothers, Alan and wife Julie Zielinski, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and Steven Zielinski, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; two sisters and their husbands, Barbara and Tom Gutierrez, and Mary Kay and Brian Ratayciak, both of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Dane, Amber and Seth Zielinski, and Hayley and Jordan Lindsey; and seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Joey Zielinski.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2007, in Burlingame Cemetery. He will lie in state from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, at Carey Funeral Home, Burlingame, where family visitation will be from 6:30 pm to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Gerald Zielinski Memorial, a fund to be determined later, and sent % First State Bank, P.O. Box 5, Burlingame, KS 66413.
