Obituary- Cooper, Lester 1

Lester Cooper
Lester Cooper was the first born and only son of three children of Anson G. and Nevada Ann McDaniel Cooper. He was born at Guthrie, in what was at that time Oklahoma territory on October 10, 1894. At a very early age, perhaps less than one year, he moved with his parents to a farm north of Delia, in which community he lived most of his life.
He attended school in the Delia community, graduating from the High Prairie school in Jackson county.
On December 4, 1926, he married Pearl Jacobson in Lyndon. They made their home on the farm north of Delia where they lived until 1966 when they built a new home and moved to Holton for their retirement.
Lester and Pearl Cooper were the parents of one daughter: Juanita, who now lives with her husband, Marvin Fansher, in Roselle, Illinois.
Second only to his family, Lester’s devotion was to farming. He was a good and progressive farmer and stockman. He served for many years in the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service, with his last years being that of chairman.
Mr. Cooper died on September 5, in Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka. His death was the culmination of declining health over about a two-year period.
Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, his daughter and son-in-law; by two grandchildren; David Cooper Fansher and Debra Ann Roeschley and her husband John; by two sisters; Mrs. Ora Martin, Raymond, Washington, and Mrs. Nellie Mather, Kansas City, Kansas; by several nieces and nephews, and by a host of friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Cooper were held on Monday, September 8, at 1:30 p.m. in the Mercer Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Boyd D. Ash, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church, Holton, officiated.
Casket bearers were Oren Bond, Howard Crow, Ed Dunn, Oscar McCoy, Frank Rosser and Harold Schultz. Burial was in the Holton Cemetery.
