Obituary- Yocum, George
George A. Yocum
ST. MARYS—Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Marys United Methodist Church for George A. Yocum, 75, a lifetime resident of St. Marys. He was a retired plumber.
Mr. Yocum died Tuesday in a Topeka hospital. He was born Sept. 7, 1896, at St. Marys and was a farmer until 1957 when he entered the plumbing business. He was a member of St. Marys United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his widow, Gertrude Heston Yocum, of the home; two sons, George A. Yocum Jr., Kansas City, and Nick Yocum, St. Marys; eight daughters, Mrs. Winifred Kerwin, Delia, Mrs. Kathryn Palmer, Wakarusa, Mrs. Georgia Mae Forbes, Lake Stevens, Wash.; Mrs. Helen Gooden, 1506 Western, Topeka, Mrs. Marguerite Petty, Olathe, Mrs. Alice Miller, Kingsville, Mo., Mrs. Betty Lou Cameron, Arlington, Va., and Mrs. Patricia Shove, Silver Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Shiebly, Landisburg, Pa., and Mrs. Pearl Barnes, Liberty, Mo.; 35 grandchildren, and 20 great- grandchildren.
Prayer services will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Verschelden Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery, St. Marys.
A Memorial has been established with the St. Marys United Methodist Church.
