Obituary- Schraeder, James
James I. Schraeder, 82, Topeka, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. Schraeder worked for the Colmery-O'Neil Veterans Affairs Medical Center until he retired in 1979. He served in the Army in the European theater during World War II.
He was born July 31, 1919, in Rossville, the son of Frank Schraeder and Mary McDonald Schraeder. He graduated from Rossville High School on 1937 and attended Washburn University and Strickler Business College in Topeka.
Mr. Schraeder was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, Topeka North Post No. 400 of the American Legion and he was a life member of Disabled Veterans.
He married Hester H. Cameron on Jan. 20, 1945, in Kansas City, Kan. She survives.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Schraeder will lie in state after noon Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be at 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Assumption Catholic Church or to the charity of the donor's choice and sent in care of the funeral home.
