Obituary- Dugan, Charles 2
Obituary- Dugan, Charles 2
[continued from first file] learned to ski, and enjoyed many trips with family to the Colorado ski slopes the following years. Charles always said he could dive like a feather and swim like a rock, but that did not detour him from purchasing a ski boat for the family and enjoying many summers camping and boating at Perry Lake.

He was a member of the Delia Fire Department and served on the Delia Fire Board.

A Christmas gift of a black powder pistol started him on a long enjoyment of black powder shooting. He was a past member of the Capital City Gun Club, the Santa Fe Trail Plainsmen Muzzleloaders, and the 3rd Battery B Civil War Reenactors. He was the proud owner of a six-pound field piece cannon and a 12-pound mountain howitzer cannon. He traveled to many Civil War reenactments, including Gettsyburg.

He loved to talk Civil War and cannons to anyone who would listen. He later became a member of the Rolling Thunder Veterans group. He was a proud veteran and in May 2013, with his son Scott, he was able to go on the Veterans Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

After 30 years in Delia, Charles and JoAnn moved to rural Delia, where he enjoyed going back to his farmer roots, using a tractor instead of horses. He liked attending the Goodyear Retirees monthly dinners, local coffee gab sessions and breakfasts at the Topeka Airport Café with other Goodyear retirees.

Charles is survived by his wife JoAnn; daughters Christine (Alan) Stanton of Topeka, Edy (Tony) Prescott of Delia and Jeri Lynn Walter of Topeka; son Scott (Mary) Dugan of Wakarusa; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brothers Bill Dugan of Holton and Robert (Sandy) Dugan of Lumberton, Texas; and sister Ethel Mae (Tracy) Caulk of Rockingham, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lazetta Dugan; son David Lamoine Dugan; daughter-in-law Cheryl; brothers Richard Dugan of Soldier and John Dugan of Topeka; and one great-great-granddaughter. He was greatly loved and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 at the Museum of the Kansas National Guard, Forbes Field. Graveside services will be held at a later date.

Donations may be made to the Kansas Army National Guard Museum, 124 S.E. Airport Drive, Topeka, KS 66619; or the Delia Fire Department, in care of Chris Gordon, 4410 102nd Rd., Delia, KS 66418. Obituary- Dunn, Martha 1
Obituary- Dunn, Martha 1
Martha Shirlene Barker Dunn, 85, passed away on February 3rd, 2022 at home
surrounded by family and friends. She likely danced her way right into
Heaven's pearly gates, with a child-like smile stretching from ear to ear,
knowing she would finally meet Jesus. If you met her, she probably told you,
"If I don't see you again down here, I'll meet you in the air!"
Martha was born on July 9th, 1936 to the late Ralph and Ruth Barker. She was
born in a small house in Harper, KS and was number seven out of nine children.
Martha went to school in Harper and lived at home before getting married to the
late Darwin Manjeot on February 28, 1955. They were married for 30 years and
had four children before Darwin went to be with Jesus in 1985. Darwin and
Martha were adventurers and they loved to travel and camp. They were fond of
Wyoming and enjoyed five years there before moving back to Kansas.
In May of 1972, Martha was born again and gave her whole life to Jesus. Early
on she volunteered at church with the bus ministry, Royal Rangers, and with
Daisy's.Martha prayed for so many loved ones and friends every day. Her
morning routine included reading her devotional and Bible, and praying over

Obituary- Dunn, Martha 2
each person on her prayer list. If she told you she was praying for you, that was
never a joke and she lifted you up to the Father every morning. When praying,
she also loved to ask the Father when Jesus was coming. She was never afraid
to share with anyone, including strangers, the love of Jesus and the importance
of accepting Him into your heart. If you don't already know Jesus, she would
want you to talk to her kids or grandkids. They will be happy to share the love of
Jesus with you so you can "Meet her in the air."

n 2002, Martha married Melvin Dunn and they lived in Rossville, KS and most
recently almost ten years in Jefferson County. Melvin and Martha celebrated
their 20th anniversary on January 29th, 2022. Together they served the Lord
and enjoyed spending their free time with family and friends. They attended
Jefferson Assembly of God in Meriden for many years and the last couple years
Seaman Community Church in Topeka. Before Covid, Melvin & Martha's
ministry included visiting several area nursing homes for many years. Together
they prayed over the residents, shared the love of Jesus, and prayed the
salvation prayer with them.

Martha was a ray of sunshine and her joy was evident every single day. In
addition to loving Jesus and her family, Martha loved animals, swimming, and
dessert. Feeding the birds, watching the squirrels play, and loving on all of the
doggies were frequent daily activities. If the sun was out and a swimming pool
was open, you could find Martha enjoying a swim until her fingers and toes
looked like raisins. After every meal, Martha always saved room for dessert. In
fact, the last thing she asked for was peaches and ice cream and she enjoyed
every bite.

Martha leaves to cherish her loving memory her husband, Melvin, her children;
Shirlene Zelenski, Becky (Matt) Moore, and Debbie (Rodney) Bower; 8
grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, her sister Glenda and brother Ronnie,
and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in
death by her son, Dale, her late husband, Darwin, her parents and 6 siblings.

Obituary- Eakin, Stacia 2
Obituary- Eakin, Stacia 2
Stacia Ann Eakin
Stacia Ann McClain was born December 19, 1897, on a farm in the High Prairie community north of Delia, the daughter of Henry and Matilda Eiserman McClain.
She attended grade and high schools at Delia. In November of 1916, she was married to Jesse Linsacum of Delia. To this union was born a daughter, Vinita Gwen¬dolyn. The family moved to Colorado and later returned to Kansas to the Sunny Slope community where Jesse Linsacum died in March, 1923.
On Feb. 17, 1925, Stacia and George Eugene Eakin were mar-ried in Lawrence and thereafter resided in the Delia community, observing their 60th wedding anni¬versary nearly a year ago.
Beset by arthritis as a child, Stacia was advised to combat it with physical activity. As a young woman she cooked for her father’s sawmill crews; as a young widow with a daughter to support, she labored long hours as a waitress. As a farmer’s wife, she chored and gardened and kept house, a daily routine for years, of milking, tend¬ing to chicken and livestock, of planting and reaping, of cooking and cleaning.
Her gardens were a wonder of long straight rows of vegetables, fruit trees, berry patches and bushes, carefully planted and nur¬tured and harvested. If her garden was of necessity, her yard and flowers were her indulgence: borders of purple iris, wild roses cascading on the front yard fence, tiger lilies by the driveway, peony bushes, hollyhocks everywhere, and masses of marigolds, rose moss and zinnias at the end of the garden.
Her fingers were ever occupied, especially with stitchery. She spent many afternoons and evenings embroidering linens for gifts and the church bazaar; she especially enjoyed the fellowship of church friends over a quilting frame. She carried on continuous correspondence with her sisters, brothers, and other family members.
Always curious and interested in the people and world beyond her own doorstep, Stacia read exten¬sively and travelled with enthusiasm throughout the midwest and western United States. Most often, the trips were visits with relatives and friends; always they included new sights. Grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other family members were often companions as she and George set out from the farm to near and farm places, whether for a Sunday drive or a three week vacation.
As Grandma to Russell, Bud, Sharon, and Brad Stauffer, Stacia offered her heart and home to them in their childhoods and took quiet pride in their adult lives and their offspring, her great-grandchil¬dren and great-great-grandchildren. They frequently spent summer and winter vacations at Grandma’s. She shared with them her own appre¬ciation of a baby chick, a jelly jar arrangement of garden flowers, the purr and affection of a “mouser” from the cats and kittens always welcome at her back door. She also shared, by example, her understanding of what life re¬quired: hard work and perseverance balanced by pleasure in simple things, a strong sense of family and a reverence for nature.
Nieces and nephews and the chil¬dren of neighbors and friends shared in her love and affection. Aunt Stacia maintained a caring, concerned interest in their growth and achievements.
She was a good neighbor, gen¬erous with her resources and time. In her younger years she was often first to the side of laboring mothers-to-be, assisting with the delivery and staying on for a few days.
Stacia was a faithful member of the Delia Presbyterian Church for many years, until failing health limited her attendance and partici¬pation. She taught an adult church school class and was an active member of the Women’s Society. She was a member of the Delia Cemetery Board.
Although arthritis, other illness and injury increasingly limited her activities in recent years, Stacia maintained a fighting spirit toward her infirmities.
She leaves her husband, George; her daughter, Vinita, and son-in-law, Auswell Stauffer, Holton; four grandchildren, Russell and his wife, Louise, Sabetha; Bud and his wife, Shirley, Mayetta; Sharon and her husband, Jim Goldsworthy, Ger¬mantown, Tenn.; and Brad, May¬etta; nine great-grandchildren, Marcia Oom, Sabetha; Myla Stauf¬fer, Hiawatha; Bryan Stauffer, Topeka; Mike Stauffer, Salina; Kevin Stauffer, Holton; Jeffrey Stauffer, Kansas City; Richard Lamberson, Circleville; Shannon Goldsworthy, Germantown, Tenn.; Todd Stauffer, Mayetta; three great-great-grandchildren, Kristina, Bobbi Ann, and Michelle Oom, Sabetha; two brothers, Sam McClain, Soldier and Fred McClain, Bonner Springs: three sis-ters, Nona Hurla, Hollister, Mo.; Ruth Whittington, Eudora; Myrnah McClain, Glendale, Calif.; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial services were held Fri¬day, Feb. 14, at the Delia Presby¬terian Church with Rev. Bill Adair officiating. Mrs. Angelita Owens sang “Beautiful Isle of Some¬where,” then she and Vaughn Flora led the congregation in singing “The Old Rugged Cross.” At the close of the service Vaughn Flora sang “The Lord’s Prayer.”
Marguerite Williams was their accompanist.
Casketbearers were Leonard Dodge, Kenneth Kerwin, Vaughn Flora, Don Miller, Harold Mc¬Queen and Donald Thompson. Burial was in the Delia Cemetery with Verscheldens, St. Marys, in charge.
