| Obituary- Graham, Monita 2 Took Life of Her Baby
Mrs. Ray Graham, took the life of her 18-months-old baby and then attempted suicide last Saturday afternoon, at her home a few miles southwest of Delia, by using carbolic acid. The baby was dead and Mrs. Graham in serious condition when found by her husband and his father, F. M. Graham.
Mrs. Graham and her husband had been fussing some, it is said, and he left his family a few days previous. Little Belle Henry, who had been staying with the young Mrs. Graham, told F. M. Graham, she was afraid the young mother would kill herself and the baby because of repeated threats to do so, and told of hiding the poison once Mr. Graham went to Delia Saturday afternoon and took the son out to his wife hoping to patch up the trouble. But they arrived too late. Mrs. Graham was found in the yard, lying on the ground, able to talk only incoherently. The baby was dead.
Emergency treatment was given at Delia and the young woman was soon out of danger.
At the coroner’s inquest Saturday night the jury decided the mother was insane when she committed the murder of her child.
Mrs. Graham was formerly Mabel Moses, daughter of A1 Moses of Maple Hill. She attended the Rossville schools until shortly before her marriage.
She expressed no regret over the death of her baby, when questioned by the coroner, saying she was sorry because she hadn’t finished herself.

| Obituary- Green, Vivian 3 June Green Killed In Head-On Collision
June Green, 42, Route 8, Topeka, was killed in a head-on collision late Sunday night in Pottawatomie County. According to the dispatcher at the Highway Patrol office in Topeka, three vehicles were involved in the accident about 10:45 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 1979. The dispatcher said Monday morning that the accident was still being investigated to determine which vehicle had crossed the center line to cause the collision which occurred just east of the bridge over the Vermillion River on U.S. 24 Highway, ap-proximately four miles east of Wamego.
A 1975 Dodge driven by Rick Pederson, 18, Route 2, Horton, was totaled. Pederson was taken to the Wamego City Hospital and later transferred to Stormont-Vail Regional
Medical Center in Topeka where his condition Monday was listed in critical condition with head injuries.
Vivian J. (June) Green, 42, Route 8, Topeka, was the driver of a 1973 Mercury which was totaled in the accident. Mrs. Green was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was taken to Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego, and later taken to Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Topeka.
A passenger in her car, James Flanagan, 20, Emmett, was injured. He was taken to the Wamego City Hospital and later transferred to Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka where his condition Monday morning was described as fair.
The third vehicle, a 1974 Ford pickup driven by Sharon Davis, 36, rural Rossville, sustained approximately $700 damage according to a preliminary report at the scene. There was no report of injuries to Ms. Davis.
Allegedly, the Dodge, headed west on U.S. 24, and the Mercury, headed east on U.S. 24, collided. The pickup which was following the Mercury tried to avoid the collision and slid between the two vehicles, striking the Dodge. At approximately 11 p.m., the
Rossville Fire Department was called by the Pottawatomie County Sheriffs Department requesting the “Jaws of Life” tool be dispatched to the scene to assist in removing victims trapped in the vehicles. Three firemen from Rossville went to the scene to assist in the operation.
Mrs. Green’s obituary is printed on page 2 of this issue.

At the age of seventeen years she united with the Baptist church but after a marriage on moving to Atkinson, Ill., she united with the Congregational church there to which she still belonged. Thru all her life she was active in all the departments of her church until failing health prevented.
Mrs. Gresser came to Rossville nine years ago to make her home with her children, most of this time having been spent with her son Grant where after much tender care she passed away.
Thru all the trials of her life she kept her faith in God, never once doubting but that all things were His plan and done for the best. So strong was this faith, that she goes on beyond leaving on the memory of her children an indelible memorial to the mother who lived her Christianity each day of her life.
Funeral services were this (Thursday) morning at 10:30 o’clock, at the home of C. E. Gresser, conducted by the Rev. Gordon S. Pritchett. The body was then taken to Topeka for shipment to Geneseo, Ill., for burial. Mrs. Grant Gresser and Messrs. C. E. Gresser and Rollin Gresser of Baxter Springs, accompanied the body to its last resting place.
