| Obituary- Keller, Pamela 1 PAMELA L. KELLER
Mrs. Pamela L. Keller, 32, St. Marys, died Monday, October 1, 1984, at a nursing home in St. Marys. She had been ill about two years with cancer.
Mrs. Keller formerly was a secretary at Leavenworth National Bank and Trust Co., Leavenworth, and Emporia State University, Emporia.
She was born September 25, 1952, at Milwaukee, Wise. She moved to Kansas in 1969, and was graduated from Leavenworth High School at Leavenworth. She lived at Leavenworth and Emporia before she moved to St. Marys.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church at Emporia, and of the auxiliary to George Edward White Post No. 56, Veterans of Foreign Wars, at Leavenworth.
She was married to Fred C. Keller October 27,1982, at Delia. He survives.
Other survivors include a son, Colby B. Keller, at home; her mother and stepfather, Mrs. Dolores Anderson and Eldred J. Anderson Jr., of Leavenworth; a broher, Clifton W. Parker, Stevens Point, Wise.; a stepbrother, Timothy E. Anderson, Merrill, Wise.; a stepsister, Mrs. Paula M. Nichols, Lansing; and a stepgrandmother, Mrs. Florence Anderson, Leavenworth.
Services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Presbyterian Church in Delia. Burial was in Delia Cemetery at Delia. Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys, was in charge of arrangements. Contributions may be made to the Pamela Keller Memorial Fund yet to be designated by relatives and sent in care of the funeral home.
Casket bearers were Dean Keller, Gail Keller, G.E. McBroom, Laverne Zlatnik, Hugh Fairbanks, and LeRoy Parr.

| Obituary- Keller, Philip Philip W. Keller
Philip W. Keller, 87, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006 at the McCrite Plaza Retirement Community in Topeka.
He was born Oct. 8,1919 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Lindsay V. and Emma Mullinex Keller.
He grew up and attended schools in the Delia community. He graduated from Delia High School in 1937 and Clark’s Business College in 1950. Philip spent the first half of his working years as a farmer and Goodyear employee. The last half of his working years he spent with the State Dept. of Revenue, retiring in 1984 after twenty eight years of service.
Philip was a member of the Delia Presbyterian Church and the Delia Masonic Lodge # 419.
Philip wanted to thank the people that were kind to him all through his life, especially his neighbors at Brewster Place and the employees, nursing staff and Mrs. McCrite of McCrite Plaza, who were very cordial and professional in taking care of him in his last years. A special heartfelt thanks to Joab, Willie and Theresa, who were such good caregivers over the past few years.
He married Lillian Pobrislo on June 2, 1943. She passed away August 9, 2004. Lillian was the one that helped him the most through life. If there is a hereafter, he hopes the Lord will reward his wife with a wonderful and eternal life.
Survivors include a brother, John Vernon Keller; three sisters, Wanda Parr, Naomi Sumner and Geneva Fairbanks, all of Topeka. He also had numerous nephews and nieces.
Mr. Keller will lie in state after 1:00 pm, Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, Dec. 1 at the funeral home with entombment to follow in the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.

ROSSVILLE- Phyllis Jane Keller, 78, passed away on July 8, 2010, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born on October 7, 1931 at Rossville, KS, the daughter of Ralph & Ruth Rogers Page.
Phyllis graduated from Rossville High School in 1949. She lived in the Rossville area all of her life. She worked for many years at Rossville High School as a Paraprofessional in the Resource Room and then as high school secretary. She was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church and Eastern Star.
She married Charles O. Keller on March 12, 1950. Charles pre¬ceded her in death on Feb. 9, 1998.
Phyllis is survived by three children, Dennis Keller and his wife Ann, Rossville; Tamara Scott and her husband Brian, Horton; and Jennifer Soebbing and her husband Charles, Wichita; six grandchildren, Jason Keller and his wife Stephanie; Amy Keller; Jacob Scott; Ashley and Dylan Lesser; and Aubrey Soebbing; and one great-grandchild, Miles Keller. She is also survived by a brother, Dean Page, Topeka; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Rossville United Methodist Church at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 10, 2010. The family will receive friends at the church between 10:00 and 11:00 prior to the services. Burial will be at the Rossville Cemetery. | Obituary- Keller, Richard L. Richard Levi “Dick” Keller
Richard L. Keller, 93, died Thursday, October 15, 2020, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
He was born November 10, 1926, at Delia, the son of Mabel King Keller and Levi Keller. “Dick” graduated from Rossville High School in 1944, and soon after enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Nagoya, Japan as a sergeant of a Motor Pool Division.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, George and Charles Keller.
He worked for Kansas Power & Light for over 43 years retiring in 1989. He was a member of Catholic Faith and was a member of Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion in Rossville. Dick loved to fish, hunt, and travel. In 1954 he built the house that they still live in.
On October 2, 1948, he was united in marriage to Mary Katherine Allen at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. They were married 72 years. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his son, Rick, and wife, Janelle, Topeka; a grandson, Chase Keller, Topeka; a sister, Jaunita Raab, Topeka.
A prayer service will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at Piper Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until the service. Interment will be in West Lawn Memorial Gardens, Topeka. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home for Roy G. Keller, 71, Route 1 Berryton, who died Friday at his home.
He was born April 26, 1903, at Delia and had been a resident of Topeka more than 50 years.
He was a supervisor for Kansas Power and Light Co. at the Tecumseh power plant and retired in April, 1965, after 40 years of service.
He was a farmer and had raised registered hogs.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
He was married to Caroline D. Worthington. She died Dec. 18, 1968.
Survivors include two sons, Dean Keller, Route 8, and Eldon K. Keller, Nashville, Tenn.; and three brothers, Burton Keller, Silver Lake, Gale V. Keller, 3014 Rochester Road, and Charles C. Keller, Delia.
Burial will be in Lynn Creek Cemetery, near Berryton.

MRS. WINIFRED KELLER
Mrs. Winifred Keller, 71, of Delia died Thursday night at her home.
Born in Lyons on September 9, 1884, she had lived in the Delia com-munity for 60 years. She was a member of the Delia Presbyterian church.
Survivors include her husband, John Keller of the home; three sons, Clair of Glendale, Calif., Kenneth of Topeka and Warren of San Lorenzo, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Don Gresser of Topeka and Mrs. Evelyn Marquardt of Independence, Mo.; one sis¬ter, Mrs. J. H. Humbert of Raymond, Washington; and 13 grandchildren.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2 p. m. in the Delia Presbyterian church, Rev. C. W. Punter officiating. Hurley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Delia Cemetery.

Dora “Darlene” Kelley, 85, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, May 30,2016.
She was born on April 18, 1931 to James O. and Juanita B. (Meeker) Warren at Eskridge, KS. She was a graduate of Eskridge High School. She received a BA in Teaching and a Master’s in Education at Emporia Teacher's College.
After graduating, she moved to Hawaii where she taught school. She served as a music teacher at Dover, Eskridge and Harveyville Schools and later taught for USD 501, teaching at Stout Elementary in Topeka, retiring after 30 plus years as an educator.
She was a member of Crestview United Methodist Church in Topeka where she sang in the choir and participated in the bell choir.
On October 4, 1957, she married Billy C. Kelley in Honolulu, Hawaii. He preceded her in death on February 16,2008. Darlene is survived by three children, Karl Kelley and his wife, Cindy of Rossville, KS, Kay Usrey and her husband, Mike of Topeka and Janet Kelley of Topeka; six grandchildren, Sarah Usrey (Jesse) and Sheryl Usrey (Kenny), Haley and Dalton Kelley and Lauryn and Jaxson C. Kelley; and eight great-grandchildren, Aaron, Xavier, Jayden, Jacob, Jaxon, Eileen, Emma and Kaylee; a brother, James Warren and his wife, Jeri of Copley, OH; and a brother-in-law, C. Leigh Johnson of Chandler, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Laura Elaine Johnson.
Darlene was an avid Royals Fan and enjoyed KU Basketball. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.
Memorial services were held June 6,2016 at Crestview United Methodist Church,
Private family inurnment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka.

She was born March 4. 1954 at Topeka the daughter of Cornelius and Lorraine Gale Lee Cummings. She was raised in Rossville and graduated from Rossville High School. Sallie lived most of her life in the Rossville community.
Sallie had worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber. Payless Distribution Center for 2S years and the past five years at Frito Lay all in Topeka. She was an avid KSU fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Mark and a sister Sue.
Survivors include her daughter, Waunita (Gary) Smith, Rossville; her son, Shawn (DeeAnna) Kelley, Wathena; siblings, Michael (Barbara) Cummings,Topeka (Willard), Ellen (James) McFarland, Carbondale, Alice (Ron) Andrick, Topeka and Amy (Chris) Rawejasli, Topeka; 3 grandchildren, Mark Smith, Darcy Smith and Molly Kelley.

Kelly
The death of John Kelly marks the passing of the last of Cross Creek’s early settlers. He was born at Medford, Mass., November 29, 1854, and departed this life Thursday, September 19, 1940, in the hospital at Holton from the effects of hypostatic pneumonia contracted from lying in bed for eight weeks with a broken leg.
He came to Kansas in 1864 during the Civil War struggle, settling near Wamego, Kans., and later moved to Emmett, Kans., where he spent most of his life, except the last ten years, which were spent in the Delia community.
He was proud of his age and enjoyed good health until the last two months.
He was united in marriage to Katie McNamara, April 16, 1890. They observed their 50th anniversary last spring.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John Cowan and Mrs. Tom Hanrahan, both of Delia, Kans.; and two sons, Ed Kelly of Delia, and John A. Kelly of Phoenix, Ariz.; and 22 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren. His daughter, Mrs. Mary Hanrahan, preceded him in death in 1920, and his son. Pat Kelly, in 1925.
He was laid to rest beside this son and his wife. The latter was laid to rest just two months ago.
Funeral services were held from the Sacred Heart Church at Delia, with Rev. Jerome Twomey officiating. Interment was in the Holy Cross cemetery.
The pall bearers were Harold Cowan, Lewis Cowan, Lloyd Cowan, Leo Simecka, John Lane and Louis, Hobart.

| Obituary- Kelly, Joseph SILVER LAKE MERCHANT
DROPS DEAD IN STORE
J. S. Kelley, a prominent merchant of
Silver Lake, dropped dead in his store
shortly after noon yesterday. He had
been in business in Silver Lake for the
last eighteen years. Heart failure was
the cause of death. He was 56 years old.
Mr. Kelley was apparently in good
health and had returned to his store
from dinner. He was standing near his
desk when he fell to the floor. A physician was summoned at once but the
stricken man died in a few minutes.
Mr. Kelley is survived by a widow, one
daughter, Miss Ellen Kelley, three sisters, Mrs. A. C. Bradley of Rossville,
Mrs. William Hook of Rossville and Mrs.
C. L. Dolman of Topeka, and his mother,
Mrs. A. G. Magill, of Silver Lake.
He was a member of the Masonic lodge,
the Modern Woodmen of America and
the Eastern Star. Funeral arrangements have not been made.

Karleen D. Kelly, 88, of Topeka, formerly of Maple Hill, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019.
She was born November 15, 1930, in St. Marys, Kansas, the daughter of Bill and Blanch (Fauerbach) Wild. She was a graduate of Rossville High School.
She was a member of Maple Hill United Methodist Church.
Karleen married Bob Kelly. He preceded her in death. Sur¬vivors include four children, Denise Taylor, Lebanon, MO, Angela Brokmann, Louisville, KY, Roger (Kim) Brokmann, Steve Brokmann, Kathy Murrow, all of Topeka; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and her brother, Bill (Kay) Wild, St Mary's, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Karleen enjoyed spending time with family and sewing.

Memorial services were Sunday at Penwell- Gabel Mid-Town Funeral Home for Mary E. Kelly, 56, Topeka, who died Thursday, March 18, 1999, at a Topeka hospital.
She was born June 24,1942, in Manhattan, to Kenneth Waldo and Elizabeth Louis Crumb, and was adopted by Bill and Alice Smith. She graduated from Rossville High School. She had worked for Security Benefit Trust and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
She married Bud Taylor. They divorced. She married Kenneth W. Kelly Jr. on Dec. 22,1978, in Topeka. He survives.
Other survivors include sons, Jeff Taylor, Topeka, and Buddy Taylor, Lawrence; a. daughter, Marti Clark, Topeka; a stepson, Brad Kelly, Topeka; a stepdaughter, Kelly Woodard, Topeka; her mother, Alice Smith, Rossville; brothers, Bill Smith Jr., Kenneth Smith and Stuart Smith, all in Topeka, Walter Smith, Mayetta, and Lee Wicks, Butler, Mo.; sisters, Jeanette Vogel, Topeka, and Pam Scott, Phoenix; and 9 grandchildren.
Mrs. Kelly was cremated.

| Obituary- Kelsey, Faye 1 FAYE WINIFRED KELSEY
Faye Winifred Kelsey, 93, of Edmond, Oklahoma, formerly of Rossville, Kansas, passed away September 15, 2013 at the home of her daughter. Faye was born in Oakland, Kansas on May 15, 1920. She was the daughter of Cecil and Gwendolin Darby Townsend. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1938 and went to work for Adams Brothers Book Bindery. On February 19.1943 she married Scott Kelsey. They were married for 69 years. Scott passed away October 12, 2012. They moved to the farm in Rossville in 1950 and lived there until they moved to a retirement center in Topeka in 2001. In 2007 they moved to a retirement center in Edmond, Oklahoma. During their years on the farm, Faye was active in the Rossville United Methodist Church, participating in the women's group, cleaning the parsonage, helping with the church yard work, working on the annual election day turkey dinner and just generally helping out where needed. She always had a large garden from which she froze and canned for the winter months. She also gave away much of her harvest to friends and neighbors. Faye never met a stranger arid was always one to help them. She helped out many friends and neighbors over the years. After she moved to Oklahoma, she started collecting medicine bottles from the retirement center and also from the Edmond Senior Center. During the 6 years she lived in Oklahoma she collected nearly 18,000 bottles, which she donated to her church's medical clinic and to other free clinics throughout the area.

| Obituary- Kelsey, Faye 2 Before her marriage, Faye was a "star" pitcher/first baseman for a women's fast pitch softball team, which traveled throughout the Midwest. There are several newspaper accounts of her hitting in the winning run. The team attracted large crowds and one time, according to the paper there were 10,000 spectators at their game at Garfield Park in Topeka. She and Scott loved to travel alone and with friends. In the mid 1970's they took a trip around the world alone. When she lived in the retirement centers she always participated in the activities that were available: exercise classes, Wii bowling, bingo, Bible study, crafts, games, and did alterations for friends and was still playing ping pong with the "old men" at the age of 92. Faye made it her mission to introduce herself to new residents at the retirement centers and always tried to help them adjust to their new living situation.
She was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church for over 50 years and then became a member of Crossings Community Church in Oklahoma City. Although Crossings was a very large church, she made many friends there.
Faye was predeceased by her parents and her brothers, Hubert and Billy. She is survived by her sister, Greta Kelsey, Topeka, Kansas; daughter Linda Kelsey Wise, Edmond, Oklahoma; son, Douglas Kelsey (Darlynn), Honolulu, Hawaii; grandchildren, Shandy Kelsey Condie, Gilbert, Arizona; Jereme Wise, Leander, Texas; Heidi Reeder, Edmond, Oklahoma; Leisha Johns, Queen Creek, Arizona; and Ja'Ney Mesquitta, Boston, Massachusetts and 9 great-grandchildren, Logan Johns, Jackson Condie, Jacob Condie, Logan Mathews, Colby Mathews, Georgia Mesquitta, Keelie Wise, Ella Jane Reeder and Grady Reeder.
A memorial service will be held at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka, Kansas at 10:30 am, Monday, October 14, 2013, Private inurnment of the cremains of Faye and Scott will be in the Rossville Cemetery. The family would like to invite all friends and family to a lunch at Penwell-Gabel Family Center immediately following the service.

Richard Kelsey
Richard “Dick” Dean Kelsey, 73, Topeka, formerly of Rossville, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2000, at a Topeka hospital from heart disease.
He was born September 27, 1927, in Topeka, the son of Scott E. and Iva M. Carothers Kelsey.
Mr. Kelsey graduated from Topeka High School in 1945, and Kansas State University in 1950. Dick served as a cartographer in the U.S. Army. He was a lifelong farmer in partnership with his two brothers. Mr. Kelsey was a member of Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, and a local licensed minister in the Church of the Nazarene. Richard was on the Board of Directors for Kaw Valley State Bank and Trust He was a member of Masonic Lodge #17 in Topeka since 1949, and served as its Master in 1965. He was the Grand Master of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Kansas from 1972-1973. Mr. Kelsey was a member of Scottish Rite, Arab Shrine, and Sons of the American Revolution. He was appointed to the state Selective Service board by former Governor William Avery and also served on the Shawnee County Civil Service Board. He was past president of the Shawnee County Farm Bureau and served on the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service. While living in Rossville, he was also a certified lay speaker in the United Methodist Church, 4-H Community leader, Lions Club member, and a member of the local school board.
On February 19,1950, he married Greta D. Townsend, in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter and her husband, Jeline and John Harclerode, Emporia; a son and his wife, Richard M. “Rick” and Darla Kelsey, Overland Park. He is also survived by two grandchildren—Jonathan and Justin Harclerode; and two brothers, Scott W. Kelsey, Rossville, and Sam Kelsey, Silver Lake.
Visitation was Friday at the Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, 3501 S. W. Wanamaker Road, Topeka, from 6 to 8 p.m. A graveside service was held in Mount Hope Cemetery, Saturday at 2 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Service at the Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene.

Richard Dean Kelsey, 73, formerly of Rossville, died Wednesday, Dec. 6,2000, at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. Kelsey farmed with his two brothers in the Rossville area. He also was a licensed minister with the Church of the Nazarene.
He was born Sept. 27,1927, in Topeka, the son of Iva M. Carothers and Scott E. Kelsey. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1945, and from Kansas State University in 1950.
Mr. Kelsey served on the board of directors of Kaw Valley State Bank and Trust. He was appointed to the State Selective Service Board by former Kansas Gov. Other survivors include a daughter, Jeline Harclerode, Emporia; a son, Richard M. “Rick” Kelsey, Overland Park; two brothers, Scott W. Kelsey, Rossville, and Sam Kelsey, Silver Lake; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene in Topeka.
Mr. Kelsey will lie in state from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel and after 6 p.m. today at the church, where visitation will be until 8 p.m.

Surviving are his three children, Gaylord Kelsey and wife Connie of Silver Lake, Francis Kelsey and wife Jane of Topeka, and Rebecca Arce and husband Anthony of Topeka; a brother, Scott Kelsey and wife Faye of Edmond, Okla.; a sister-in-law, Greta Kelsey of Topeka; two grandsons, Brant of LaGrange, Ga., and Sean of Topeka; and two great-grandchildren, Ruthie and Oliver. Sam was preceded in death by a brother, Richard.
Funeral services were Sept. 7 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, Topeka. Topeka Lodge 17, AF&AM, conducted Masonic graveside services at Topeka Cemetery. Scott Kelsey, 88, veteran of the Civil war and a prominent Shawnee county farmer and potato grower for many years, died Wednesday night at his home, 1400 Arter avenue. He had been ill since Monday night.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Prudence Wilson, San Antonio Tex., two sons, Grant E. and Melvin T. Kelsey, both of Topeka; a sister Mrs. Minnie Parr, Rossville; a brother, Will L. Kelsey. Vickery, Tex., nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Penwell’s chapel. Burial will be in Topeka cemetery.
Mrs. Joe Parr, sr., was called to Topeka, Wednesday, by the death of her eldest brother, Mr. Scott Kelsey.

Scott Kelsey Rites Monday
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Masonic Temple for Scott E. Kelsey, 71, 3455 Huntoon, past grand master of the grand lodge of Kansas and past potentate of the Arab Shrine, who was found dead Thursday in a field north of Topeka Municipal Airport.
Officials said he apparently died from natural causes. He had a heart ailment.
He was born July 3, 1899, at Topeka, and had lived his entire life in the Topeka area. He was a retired farmer and vice president of the Kaw Valley State Bank and Trust Co.
Historical Landmarks
His Northwood Farms, northeast of Topeka, landmarks of Kansas history, now are farmed by his three sons.
He was graduated from Kansas State University in 1918.
Mr. Kelsey was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church. He was past master and a 50-year member of Topeka Lodge No. 17, AF&AM. He was a member of Scottish Rite Bodies. He had received his 50-year membership to that organization on April 12. He also was treasurer of Scottish Rite Bodies.
He was a 33rd degree Mason and a member of York Rite Bodies.
In 1955, Mr. Kelsey was named grand master of Kansas Masons.

He was a member of the Red Cross of Constantine, the Royal Order of Jesters, and Beulah Chapter No. 34, OES.
Mr. Kelsey was on the board of directors of the Kansas Masonic Home, Wichita, and president of the Masonic Temple Building Committee Inc. He also was on the board of directors of the Methodist Home, Topeka.
He was a member of the Legion of Honor in the Order of Demolay. He was a member of the Hi-12 Club and Ancient Toltec Rite.
Historical Society
Mr. Kelsey was a longtime member of the Shawnee County Historical Society. In 1968, he was elected president of the Kansas Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Scott Winfield Kelsey, 92, of Edmond, Okla., formerly of Rossville, passed away Oct. 12, 2012, with his family at his side. Scott was born in Topeka, on Aug. 29, 1920. He was the son of Scott and Iva Carothers Kelsey. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1938 and from Kansas State University in 1942 with a degree in agriculture. He was a farmer and farmed with his dad and two brothers in the Oakland, Silver Lake and Rossville communities.
He married Faye Townsend on Feb. 19,1943. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in February 2013. He was active in many organizations in the Rossville community and was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church for more than 50 years. He was also an integral part of getting the new church built in 1992.
He was a member of Topeka Lodge No. 17, AF & AM, Topeka Scottish Rite bodies, Arab Shrine, Topeka Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution and past president of the Kansas Society of Sons of the American Revolution. After his retirement, he volunteered for the Internal Revenue Service’s VITA program for 17 years.
In 2007, at age 87, he and Faye moved to a retirement center in Edmond, Okla. They made many new friends and continued to be involved in many activities. He was a faithful member of Crossings Community Church in Oklahoma City, where everyone knew he would be sitting in the fifth pew by the left aisle at the 9:30 service every Sunday morning. Scott was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Dick and Sam. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Faye; daughter, Linda Kelsey Wise of Edmond, Okla.; son, Douglas Kelsey and wife Darlynn of Hono¬lulu, Hawaii; grandchildren, Shandy Condie of Gilbert, Ariz., Jereme Wise of Leander, Texas, Heidi Reeder of Edmond, Okla., Leisha Johns of Queen’s Creek, Ariz., and Ja’Ney Mesquitta of Boston, Mass.; and seven great-grandchildren, Logan Johns, Jackson Condie, Jacob Condie, Keelie Wise, Ella Jane Reeder, Grady Reeder and Georgia Mesquitta.

Services for Charles Kemble, 65, a lifelong resident of Dover, were at 2 p.m. Friday in the Federated Church there with burial in the Dover cemetery, He died Tuesday at his home.
He was a farmer and for the past 15 years was the Dover Township road maintainer.
Mr. Kemble was a member of the Dover Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star.
He is survived by his widow, Agnes; four sons, Charles of Norfolk, Va., Roy (Short) of Maple Hill, Paul of Dover and Allen of Topeka; a daughter, Mrs. Maude Dagg of Eskridge; 20 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Maude Blankenship, Topeka, and Mrs. Ella Cranmer of Dover.

| Obituary- Kemble, Florence Florence Kemble
The community was saddened last Friday, by news of the death of Mrs. Florence Kemble, which occurred Thursday night, at her home near Dover, from internal injuries received in a coasting accident.
Mr. and Mrs. Kemble were coasting with their two sons Donald and Duane after school about 5:30 when the accident occurred. Each one took turn to ride down a slope from the house. Mrs. Kemble evidently lost control of the sled as it shot across a ditch and hit the bank on the opposite side. Mr. Kemble rushed to her and hurried her to the house, where she regained consciousness only long enough to say, to him, she was hurt in her chest and then quietly passed away. The Doctor and nurse had been summoned but arrived too late.
Florence, the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. J.V. Rezac, was born April 3, 1907 near Rossville. She completed the high school course here and graduated in 1923. In 1926 she was united in marriage to William Kemble and since has made her home near Dover. To this union was born three sons.
Mrs. Kemble was a kind, devoted and happy wife and mother and a warm friend to all who knew her.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 in the Dover Federated church, conducted by the Rev. Randolph, of Council Grove. Vocal solos were sung by Mr. Firestone of Dover. Burial was made in the Dover cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, William Kemble; three sons, Donald 9, Duane 5 and Garth 5 months; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.V. Rezac, Rossville; four brothers, Fred and Ernest Rezac, Emmett; Richard Rezac, Los Angeles, Calif., and James Rezac, Rossville; and five sisters, Mrs. Josephine Syring, Rossville; Mrs. Martha Ptacek, Reading; Mrs. Tilly Luthye, Silver Lake; Mrs. Pauline Miller, Delia; and Mrs. Elsie Lynde, Topeka.
The following were among those from Rossville who drove to Dover, Sunday, to attend the funeral of Mrs. Florence Kemble: Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Kimerer, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Simmons, Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Maple Hill — Roy A. "Short" Kemble, 84, died Thursday, February 23,2006 at a Topeka Hospital following surgery.
He was born February 14,1922 near Valencia the son of Charles and Agnes Sherritts Kemble. He grew up in the Dover community and graduated from Dover High School.
He had lived in the Dover and Maple Hill communities all of his life.
He worked for various farmers before joining the Navy in 1942. He traveled around the world aboard ships before being discharged in 1945. He went into the trucking business with his brother Paul and later became a cattle buyer and was well know for his cattle knowledge.
He was a member of Dover Lodge No. 330 AF/AM, the ARAB Shrine Temple and the Order of the Eastern Star. He was also a member of die American Legion at Maple Hill.
He was married to Frieda Flanary on November 12, 1948 in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include a sister, Maude Dagg, Harveyville: brothers, Paul Kemble, Dover and Allen Kemble, Carbondale; and many nieces and nephews that will greatly miss him.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 27,2006 at the Maple Hill Community Congregational Church. Interment will be in the Dover Cemetery where a funeral detail team from Ft. Riley will conduct military graveside services. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the church in Maple Hill.

Mrs. Pollyann Kemp, 89, widow of the late “Newt” Kemp, passed away Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Short in St. Marys. Mrs. Kemp was the only surviving Gold Star mother of the first World War in St. Marys township. Their son, Pvt. Floyd Kemp, a favorite among local baseball fans, was killed in action in the Argonne Forest a few days before the signing of the Armistice in 1918. In his memory the Kemps gave the bell which is heard every Sabbath from the tower of the Methodist Church in St. Marys.
Her funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist Church. Interment was in Valley View Cemetery.
Mrs. Kemp was an aunt of Mrs. Joe Navarre and Mrs. Dewey Maupin, of Silver Lake.

Clara Alice Kennedy, 90, Emmett, died Saturday, May 21, 2005, at Community Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born August 14, 1914, on a farm near St. Marys, the daughter of Joseph E. and Alice Hale Aubert.
She grew up in the St. Marys community and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School Academy in 1932. Clara was a homemaker and farm wife. She had worked at Eshbach Grocery Store in Emmett for over 10 years.
She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Emmett, and a member of the Altar Society at the Church. She also was a member of the Immaculate Conception Perpetual Adoration Chapel in St. Marys. Since the 1940s, Clara was a member of the Jolly Workers Club in Emmett. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #178 in St. Marys, and a member of TOPS since 1985. She was a liaison for the Area Agency on Aging for the [missing some]
Surviving her are a brother, James Aubert, St. Mars, a sister, Anna Verschelden, St. Marys, 12 Godchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday (this afternoon) at the Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Center, in St. Marys.

EMMETT — Eugene Kennedy, 64, Emmett, died Saturday, March 12, 1988, at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. Kennedy owned and operated Kennedy's Motor Co. in Emmett. He was in the Army during World War II, having served in the South Pacific and New Guinea from 1943 to 1945.
He was born Oct. 11, 1923, at Emmett, the son of William and Agnes C. Reilly Kennedy. He lived all of his life in Emmett.
Mr. Kennedy was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a member of the former American Legion post, both at Emmett.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Agnes C. Kennedy, Emmett; and a brother, Frank J. Kennedy, Emmett.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church at Emmett. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at St. Marys. Emmett—Frank J. Kennedy, 87, died Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the Sunflower Memory Center at the Topeka V. A.
He was born February 16, 1931 at Emmett the son of William L. "Bill” and Agnes C. Reilly Kennedy. He attended Holy Cross Catholic Grade School and graduated from Emmett High School in 1949. Frank served in the US Air Force from January 25, 1956 until July 30, 1959.
Frank owned and operated Kennedy Oil Company in Emmett from 1959 until he retired in 1993, although he was at the station every day for many years after he officially retired. He was very active in the Emmett community. He had served as mayor and on the city council. He was a member of the fire department and had been fire chief. Frank was a past member
of the Lions Club and had coached baseball in the 60’s. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and served on the church board.
On September 14, 1955 he was united in marriage to Phyllis J. Carr in Albuquerque, NM; she preceded him in death on December 17, 2015. Frank was also preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Eugene and Betty.
Survivors include his children, Joe (Brenda) Kennedy, Debby Fischer and Bill Kennedy all of Emmett; his grandchildren, Chris Kennedy, Adam (Amy) Kennedy, Lacey (Tim) Niehues, Amanda Morgan and Markie (Matt) Berry; great-grandchildren, Landon, Quinn, Abigail, Chase, Kinley, Marek, Liam and Nora.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 3, 2018 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Emmett. Inurnment with military honors will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery Emmett. Mr. Kennedy was a retired farmer.

He was a farmer and a stockman, a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and the City Service Club, both at Emmett, and of Knights of Columbus Council No. 657 at St. Marys.
He was married to Clara A. Aubert May 15, 1935, at St. Marys. She survives. Other survivors include a sister, Bridget M. Simecka, Topeka.
Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery at St. Marys. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church at Emmett.

Martin Joseph Kennedy, 89, 233 Elmwood, died Monday at a Topeka hospital.
He was born Jan. 1,1893, at Ivesdale, Ill., the son of Christopher and Julia Reilly Kennedy, and lived at Emmett before he moved to Topeka in 1942.
Mr. Kennedy was a farmer and stockman before he retired. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church.
He was married to Georgia Marie Immenschuh, who died in 1957. He was married to Clara Kramer March 19, 1974, in Topeka. She survives. He was preceded in death by two daughters and a son.
Other survivors include two sons, Robert Kennedy, 836 N. Michigan, and Willard Kennedy, rural Oskaloosa; two daughters, Vivian Sullivan, Stanley, and Vivina Rowland, Lawrence; a brother, Leo Kennedy, Emmett; and a sister, Bridget Simecka, Topeka; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at St. Marys. Mr. Kennedy will lie in state from 2 until 9 p.m. today at Brennan Funeral Home where parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

James D. Kenney, Sr, 78, of Topeka, Kansas passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday March 1, 2021.
Jim was born in Eskridge, Kanas on July 27, 1942 to Gladys and Raymond Kenney. He graduated from Eskridge High School. He worked construction until he joined the Army in 1964; after which he belonged to the Rossville American Legion Post #31. He was also active in the Army reserve for 6 years after his discharge from the service. Jim then started a construction business called Ken-Barr Construction. He was the undersheriff of Wabaunsee County before being promoted to Sheriff. He then went to work for the State of Kansas Public Defenders Office as Chief Investigator. Later he worked for the Federal Public Defenders Office also as Chief Investigator. He was well respected by his peers all over the country.
Jim was active in sports in high school and played ball with men from Eskridge in later years. He was actively involved in getting Eskridge a ball diamond for kids to play baseball. He loved watching the Kansas City Royals, the Kansas City Chiefs, as well as, KU sports. He also loved watching his grandchildren in their sports activities. He loved his westerns and old moves. He had many hobbies and was willing to help any one who needed it.
He was an avid and competitive fisherman all of his life. He fished in many area clubs and several in the Midwest. Table Rock was his favorite competitive spot. He loved to teach kids to fish and a couple of grandkids are still fishing today. He was a marketing representative for Tightline Lures, a job he truly loved.
Jim was loved and admired by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He was generous, funny, loving and always had a good story or joke to tell. All of his grandkids adored him as did his wife and children.
His parents and a special aunt preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sharon (Hundley), son JD Kenney (Kelli) grandkids Jimmy, Parker and Madelyn of Rossville, KS. Stepson Shawn Lucas (Amy) grandkids Cole and Josie of Topeka. Two sisters RaeJean Dancy of Cincinnati, Ohio and Janet Barnett (his twin) of Topeka, KS., as well as, many nieces and nephews.
Jim wished to be cremated and have his beloved fur babies (Sadie and Doodle) buried with him. There will be a graveside service at the Eskridge Cemetery on March 18, 2021 at 2:00 PM. A celebration of life will be on May 22, 2021 at Lake Shawnee, shelter house #3 from 10:30-2:30. Lunch will be provided.
In memory of Jim the family suggests donations be sent to Helping Hands Humane Society or a charity of their choice. Finally, the family wishes to thank the staff of Midland Hospice for their care and compassion. |

Mrs. Kent had worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Kansas the past 21 years.
She was born Jan. 1, 1950, at Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Harold W. Sr. and Bea Lewis DeHart. She had lived in Topeka since January 1951 and was graduated from Hayden High School in 1967.
She married Robert E. Kent. He survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Jamie Charity, Topeka, and Ron Charity, Manhattan; her mother, Bea DeHart, Topeka; a brother, Harold DeHart Jr., Topeka; and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Parker-Price Mortuary. Cremation will follow the services. Burial of cremains in Rossville cemetery will be private. ROSSVILLE — Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Presbyterian Church here for Mrs. Ethel R. Kerr, 84, Rossville, who died Sunday in the Presbyterian Manor at Kansas City, Kan., where she had been since Dec. 30.
She was born April 22, 1891, at Rossville, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Reid, and lived in the Rossville community many years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Rossville.
She was graduated from Baker University at Baldwin. She formerly was a housemother at Colorado Women’s College at Denver and later was a housemother at Sellards Hall at the University of Kansas.
She was married April 21, 1915, to William H. Kerr. He died June 30,1951.
Survivors include a son, Glenn W. Kerr, Mission; a brother, Homer S. Reid, Rossville; and three grandchildren.

She was a member of Rossville Presbyterian Church. She was married April 21, 1915 to William H. Kerr. He preceded her in death June 30,1951.
Survivors include a son, Glenn W. Kerr, Mission; a brother Homer S. Reed, Rossville, and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Rossville Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Kerr received word Sunday morning of the death of his mother, Mrs. Grace Kerr, which occurred Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jennie Gates at New Castle, Pa. She would have been 93 years old next Saturday, December 2nd.
Mr. and Mrs. Kerr left Topeka Sunday evening to attend the funeral which was held Tuesday.
Mrs. Kerr is the widow of the late
Samuel Kerr, and both early day residents of Rossville. The old family home here now is owned by Mrs. Ida James at the corner of Navarre and Pottawatomie Strets.
Mr. and Mrs. Philip Hartzell are staying at the Kerr farm home during their absence.

Funeral services for William H. Kerr, were held Monday at 2:00 p. m. at the Presbyterian church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Ivan Rundus.
Mr. Kerr died Saturday morning at his home east of Rossville. His last illness dated from late last Fall.
He was a native of Rossville. Born January 4, 1890, his birthplace is now the S. O. Parr home, where he lived with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam Kerr until the age of seven After receiving his education in Marietta, Ohio, he took up the lithographing trade, working at this at Dallas, Texas, Denver and lastly with Hall’s in Topeka until his marriage to Ethel Reid when he took up farming.
Mr. Kerr had served his community in a number of places of trust serving on the township board and on the school board. He was a member and elder of the Rossville Presbyterian church, a member of Hesperian Lodge No 111, A. F. & A. M
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ethel Kerr, a son Glenn W Kerr, a granddaughter Alice Ann Kerr of Mission, Kans; a sister, Mrs. Jennie Gates, of Marietta, Ohio.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Don Berkey, with Mrs. Lula Rachel Hill at the piano.
Pallbearers were F. E. Pardee, Robert Rawlings, Marvin Davis, John Pearl, Roy Wilt and H.H. Davis.
Burial was in Rossville cemetery.

Donna Jean (Hards) Kerwin , 89, passed away on Nov. 21, 2016, at the Hospice House in Topeka, previously resided at Rossville Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Donna was born on a farm south of the Emmett community on May 7, 1927 to John and Mabel (Hards) Jacobson. Donna spent most of her growing up years in the Rossville and Silver Lake areas. Her parents moved to Delia in the 40s where she graduated from the Delia High School in 1944.
She married her classmate, Kenneth Kerwin on October 3, 1945 at Assumption Church in Topeka, Kansas.
After graduation Donna worked at the Supply Depot Office just south of Topeka. She worked at the Supply Depot until it closed. She then worked as an Aide at the Silver Lake nursing home for a while. She retired to enjoy farm life with her husband near the community of Delia. Donna enjoyed visiting with family, friends and neighbors near and far. She always had kind words to say to everyone she knew or met.
Donna was a loving wife, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt and great- aunt.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Delia and later a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Marys.
Preceding her in death was her husband of 64 years, Kenneth Kerwin who passed away in June 2009, an infant son, Larry Stephen Kerwin, in 1952, and her parents John & Mabel (Hards) Jacobson.
Donna had many pets over the years, cats, dogs, pony, chickens, etc. She loved them all dearly. She would rather go hungry herself than to have her animals be without food. She had a big heart for all animals.
Donna is survived by her caregivers, Kevin & Tammy Kerwin, Delia, brother-in-law Leo ( Virginia) Kerwin, Wellsville,
Cousin Kenny (Linda) Houck, Delia and numerous neices and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

DELIA- Kenneth "Kenny" S. Kerwin, 84, of Delia, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at the Rossville Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on January 19, 1925 at Delia, the son of Robert E. and Mary A. Hanrahan Kerwin. He grew up in the Delia community and graduated from both the Delia Grade and High Schools.
Kenny married Donna J. Hards on October 3, 1945 at Assumption Catholic Church in Topeka. Kenny received his childhood Sacraments at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Delia where he served as a parish council member for years. Kenny was a member of Knights of Columbus, St. Marys Council # 657 and a 4th Degree member of the Thomas A. McNeive Assembly of the Knights of Columbus.
Kenny farmed for many years around the Delia area. He was also a rancher. He received the 1967 Bankers Award for conservation practices. In 2002 he received the Outstanding Conservationist Award for continuing the maintenance of his conservation practices.
He served on the Farmers Union COOP Board for many years. He was a past member of the Delia Lions Club. In 1957 Kenny was approached by a representative from the Brown County Soil Conservation Office to spear-head a watershed development effort in the surrounding counties. From that Kenny was the president of the Cross Creek Watershed Joint District No 42 until April 2004 (42 years).
Kenny retired from farming/ranching in 1985. He then went to work for Kaw Valley USD #321. He retired in 1994 after several years of service. After retirement Kenny would frequent his favorite coffee establishments for socializing. Kenny never knew a stranger. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and caring for his greyhound dogs.
Kenny was a loving husband, brother, uncle and great-uncle.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 64 years, Donna of the home; two brothers, Clinton (Winnie) Kerwin, Rossville and Leo (Virginia) Kerwin, Wellsville; many nieces and nephews.
Kenny was preceded in death by an infant son Larry Stephen, his parents Robert E. & Mary A. Kerwin, an infant brother Aloysius and a brother Robert A. Kerwin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. Mr. Kerwin will lie in state after 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys where there will be a rosary recited at 7:00 P. M.
