Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Mrs. (Dorothy) Lester Vail, of Richland; Veronica Reser, of Winchester; and Clara Marie Reser, of Topeka; three sons, Ber¬nard, of Winchester; Clarence J., of Meriden; and Eugene, of Topeka; two sisters, Mrs. J. He was born January 12, 1899, in Shawnee County, Kansas, the son of Johnston and Alice N. Duffey Reser. He lived in Topeka all of his life. He worked for Shawnee County Sheriff’s Department; Shawnee County Road Depart¬ment; and, from 1938 to 1977, was a sales representative for Wentz Equipment Company. He had been baptized in Prai¬rie Home Christian Church. He was a 65-year member of Golden Rule Lodge #90, AF&AM. He married Clara M. Schmalz June 18, 1936, in Topeka. She died November 17, 1983. He is survived by two nieces, Mary Louise Pellow and Alice McGrew, both of Fort Collins, Colo., and a great-nephew, John Bates, Topeka. His service was a 3:00 Monday afternoon at the Parker-Price Mor¬tuary, Topeka. Burial was in Prai¬rie Home Cemetery, NW 35th and Menoken Road, Topeka. Mr. Reser was a sales representative for Wentz Equipment Co. from 1938 to 1977. He also had worked for the Shawnee County Sheriff's De¬partment and the Shawnee County Road Department. He was born Jan. 12, 1899, in Shawnee County, the son of Johnston and Alice N. Duffey Reser. He was a lifelong resident of the Topeka area. Mr. Reser was baptized at Prairie Home Christian Church and was a 65-year member of Golden Rule Lodge No. 90 AF&AM. He was married to Clara M. Schmalz on June 28, 1936, at Topeka. | 9255 |  | Obituary- Reser, John L. d.1998 John Loucene Reser John "Johnny" Loucene Reser, 35, To¬peka, died Wednesday, July 15, 1998, at a Topeka hospital. Mr. Reser was involved with the Topeka Association for Retarded Citizens, and In¬dividual Support Systems Inc. of Topeka. He was born May 31, 1963, at Topeka, the son of William Reser and Burdina V. Foster Reser. He was raised in Topeka and attended school at the Special Pur¬pose School at the Kansas Neurological Institute. Mr. Reser attended church at the KNI Chapel and he was active in the Catholic Community Services. He also was a mem-ber of the Iowa Indian Tribe of Horton. Survivors include his father, William Re¬ser, Topeka; a grandmother, Ruby Snider, Topeka; a legal guardian, Cindy Patterson, Meriden; a brother, Joe Reser, address unavailable, and two sisters, Amber Boyd and Lindsay Boyd, both of Meriden. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Valley Falls Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Reser will lie in state before service time today at the funeral home. | 9256 |  | Obituary- Reser, Josie Death Takes Mrs. W.H. Reser Mrs. Josie Reser, wife of William H. Reser, passed away Sunday, Jan¬uary 13, at 4:45 p.m. Her death was due to cancer of the stomach which disease developed about four months ago. She became seriously ill only about a week before the end came. The deceased was a native of Rossville township, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wood. She was born September 16, 1884. At the time of her death she was 39 years, 3 months and 28 days old. She was united in marriage to W. H. Reser January 18, 1905, and to this union two children were born, both of whom, with the husband sur¬vive to mourn her loss. Other surviving relatives are her mother, Mrs. Richard Wood, one sister, Mrs. W.H. Zickefoose and four brothers, George Wood, of Kansas City, Mo., Emmett Wood, of Guthrie, Okla., Den Wood, of Ozawkie, Kan., Melvin Wood, of Rossville. Funeral services were held Tues¬day afternoon, January 15, at 2 o’clock, in the Rossville Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. H.L. Nel¬son, of Topeka. Rev. Nelson also of¬ficiated at her wedding. The music was furnished by a choir including Dr. N.S. Clothier, of St. Marys, Mr. A.A. Cless, Mrs. A.B. Jamieson and Mrs. Albert Reser. The pall bearers were Mr. Norris Nichols, Mr. Ed Quinlan, Mr. Oscar Allen, Mr. George Allen, Mr. Mike Kesler and Mr. Cecil Lemon. The body was interred in the Rossville cemetery. Chris Reser was called to Ross¬ville Sunday, by the death of his sis¬ter-in-law, Mrs. Will Reser. Mrs. Reser left Tuesday to attend the fun¬eral.—Holton Recorder. | 9257 |  | Obituary- Reser, Laurel LAUREL PEARL RESER Laurel Pearl Reser, 54, wife of Wm. L. Reser, died at her home at 564 Burr Street, in Topeka last Thursday January 29, following an extended illness. Mrs. Reser was a native of Rossville township, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mell Wood. She was born July 12, 1894 and had been a resident in this vicinity most of her life. She was a member of the United Brethren [sic] Church. She was united in marriage to Wil¬liam L. Reser March 29, 1911, and to this union nine children were born. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Fulton, Gilroy, Calif., and Mrs. Nadine McMillan, Topeka; and six sons, Randall, Donald and Robert of Topeka; Milford and Ben of Silver Lake and Harold of Lecompton. One child died in infancy. Other survivors include eleven grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Ethel Rezac, St. Marys, Kan., two brothers Prank Wood, Rossville, and Riley Wood, Samuels, Idaho. Funeral services were held at the Penwell Chapel, Topeka, Monday, Feb. 2nd at 1:30. Burial was in the Ross¬ville Cemetery. The pallbearers were her six sons. | |

He was born Aug. 12, 1911, in Rossville and lived in the Rossville area most of his life. He was a farmer. Mr. Reser was a member of the Rossville Christian Church. He married Mildred Tabbert on Nov. 26, 1960, at Wichita. She survives at the home. Other survivors include one son, Larry D. A resident of Rossville since childhood, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Harold T. Reser. She was born Aug. 31, 1916, in Morgan County, Ky., the daughter of Eva Trimble McClain and Roy McClain. She was the eldest daughter in a family of eight. Surviving her are three sisters, Nancy Preble, Mesa, Ariz., Mazie Gooderl, Hoyt, and Barbara Grubach, Red Wood Valley, Calif.; and one brother, Luther McClain, Rossville. Also surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Sharon Y. and Sam Nickols, Athens, Ga., and their four children, Douglas Nickols, Fairview, Texas, Rusty Nickols, Coppell, Texas, Shelly Nickols-Richardson, Blacksburg, Va., and Matthew Nickols, Sachse, Texas, and Lillian K. and Werner Kellner, and Evi Fichtner, Schoenau, Germany; seven great¬grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Rossville Christian Church, with burial following in Rossville Cemetery. Reser, 88, died Saturday, December 4, 2004, in Athens, GA She was born in Morgan County, KY, the daughter of Roy and Eva Trim¬ble McClain, and was the eldest daughter in a family of eight. Mrs. Reser was a member of Rossville Christian Church, where she served as Sunday School Super¬intendent for many years and taught youth Sunday School classes. She completed the Menninger Bible Study Course. Mrs. Reser was a com¬munity volunteer and leader for the Rossville 4-H Club, supervising the 4-H cooking projects for over 20 years. She served on the Rossville School Board. She resided the last five years in Athens, GA. She was married to Harold T. Re¬ser. They were married 55 years at the time of his death. Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Y. Nickols, Athens, GA, and Shelly Richardson, Blacksburg, VA; three sisters, Nancy Preble, Mesa, AZ, Mazie Gooderl, Hoyt, Barbara Grubach, Red Wood Valley, CA; one brother, Luther McClain, Rossville; grandchildren and great-grandchil¬dren. Her service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Rossville Christian Church. Burial will be in the Ross¬ville Cemetery. | 9262 |  | Obituary- Reser, Marcellus 1 Moss Reser Ends Life With Shotgun Moss Reser, one of the early settlers and well-to-do farmers of Rossville took his life yesterday at 11:30 a.m. at his home north west of Rossville by shooting himself with a shotgun. Death was instantaneous. Loading both barrels of his shotgun, he tied a string around the triggers and fastened the other end of the string to his foot and then sat down on a sofa in the dining room of his home with the barrels of the gun pressed against his breast. Only one of the shells exploded but it was sufficient. A hole as large as a dollar was torn in his breast and he died instantly. Mrs. Kesler discovered her father with the shells and attempted to take them away from him. He fought her off and she ran to the field to call Grover, but before they could get back they heard the shot and discovered him lying on his face with the gun still hugged in his arms. Because of his oft repeated threats that he would kill himself the Kesler’s had always taken the precaution to keep shells for the gun hid away, fearing he might carry out the threats. Tuesday Mr. Reser came to town and presumably bought the shells that he used in ending his life. On that day he told business men about Rossville that that trip to town would be his last. The coroner at Topeka was informed at once of the tragedy but upon learning the facts said an inquest would be unnecessary. Mrs. Reser has been in poor health for many years and for the last year or so Mr. Reser has been brooding over her health and lately of his own decline in health and it is thought this constant brooding finally drove him to his last rash act. Mr. Reser has been one of the substantial farmers of this community for many years, and his death was a shock to his many old friends. The funeral arrangements were completed last night. The funeral was held this afternoon at the M.E. church conducted by Rev. W.T. Ward, assisted by Rev. Manion of the Olive Branch U.B. church and the body interred in the Rossville cemetery. Mr. Reser is survived by his widow, three brothers, Zack Reser, Bood Reser and Wyatt Reser all of Rossville, two sisters, Mrs. Harriet Sawyer of Eskridge, Kan., and Mrs. Sarah Sawyer, of Topeka; four daughters, Mrs. W. W. Page, of Silver Lake, Mrs. Zella Elson, of Fullerton, Calif., Mrs. Armenta Caldwell of Fresno, Calif., and Mrs. Grover Kesler, of Rossville; five sons, Albert, John H. and Mont, of Rossville, Edward of Delia, Chris of Holton and William of St. Marys. All were here for the funeral except the daughters in California and his sister, Mrs. Sarah Sawyer, of Topeka. | |

DEATH TAKES PIONEER ROSSVILLE WOMEN Mrs. Alice Reser and Mrs. Emma Stovall, Passed Away With Only A Few Hours Intervening Mrs. Alice Lemon Reser, aged 71, widow of the late Zack Reser, and one of the pioneer residents of Ross¬ville township died in Topeka at 6 o’clock Tuesday evening, July 17, in the Menninger Sanitarium follow¬ing an illness of several months. Mrs. Reser had spent practically all her life in this community coming from her Ohio home, where she was born on May 20th, 1857, with her parents, Henry and Sarah Lemon, in the early days of Kansas statehood. Her marriage with Zackariah Reser took place 45 years ago, in 1883. They made their home for 14 years on their farm 4 miles west of Rossville. About 21 years ago they moved into Rossville to the present home on south Main and lived a retired life. Mr. Reser passed on a trifle over a year ago. Mrs. Reser united with the Metho¬dist church in 1888. She also was a member of the Security Benefit Association. Surviving her are a daughter, Mrs. Edith Stewart of Rossville, a son, George, of the home address one granddaughter, Miss Vida Reser of Rossville, one sister, Mrs. Nettie Grindal of Manhattan, Kansas, four brothers, Frank and Grant Lemon, of Westmoreland; Reuben Lemon Latham, Kan.; James Lemon, Ross¬ville; and a half brother, Tom Lemon, Eureka, Kansas. Funeral services were held this (Thursday) afternoon, at the Metho¬dist church, conducted by Rev. G. G. Horne, of Topeka. The pall bearers were Messrs. Harvey James, C.E. Gresser, R. Hawks, George Higginbotham, R. Shipley, and William Howerton. Interment was in Rossville ceme¬tery. | |

She was born Dec. 29, 1914, at Delia, the daughter of Joseph and Barbara A. Eckert Stich. She spent •her early life in the Delia communi¬ty and lived at Rossville, Grantville and Lecompton before she moved to the Berryton community in 1950. Mrs. Reser was a member of Dis¬ney Extension Homemakers Unit at Berryton. She was married to Harold L. Re¬ser Sept. 24, 1933, at Holton. He survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Bacon and Mrs. Betty Eggenberger, both of Berryton; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Services will be at 10 a.m. Satur¬day at Tibbitts-Griffin Highland Chapel. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, 29th and Tecumseh Road. Mrs. Reser will lie in state until service time at the chapel. Mr. Reser was an Army veteran of World War II and served during the Occupation of Japan. He was honor¬ably discharged. He was born Nov. 5, 1916, at Ross¬ville, the son of William L. and L. Pearl Wood Reser. Mr. Reser was a member of the Carpenters Union Local No. 1445 an North Post No. 400 of the American Legion. He was married to Clara M. Bower on Oct. 8, 1940, at Oskaloosa. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Rod¬ney M. Reser, Silver Lake; two daughters, Marilyn Bush and Patricia Haynes, both of Topeka; three brothers, Ben Reser and Randall Re¬ser, both of Topeka, and Robert Re¬ser, Tecumseh; a sister, Nadine Jones, Topeka; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Reser had been a self-employed carpenter working as Reser Carpentry in the Topeka, Silver Lake and Lyndon communities. He also served on the Silver Lake City Council for several years. He was born Nov. 17, 1911, in Rossville, the son of William L. and Laura Pearl Wood Reser. He lived in Silver Lake and in Lyndon from 1962 until he moved to Topeka in 1992. He married Christine Stich on Aug. 31, 1937, in Flush. She died Sept. 10, 1982. Survivors include two sons, William J. Reser and Richard M. Reser, both of Topeka; two broth¬ers, Randall Reser, Topeka, and Robert Reser, Tecumseh; a sister, Nadine Jones, Topeka; three grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren. Mrs. Reser was a federal Civil Service secretary before she retired and was a member of Northland Christian Church. She married Lawrence Reser in November 1960. He died in February 1973. | 9274 |  | Obituary- Reser, Monterville MONTERVTLLE RESER Monterville Reser was born near St. George, Kansas, March 30, 1879. He passed from this life in Topeka, July 30, 1935, at the age of 56 years and 4 months. He was united in marriage to Car¬rie BlackJer on September 7, 1904. To this union six children were born, of whom one preceded him in death. Mrs. Reser passed away May 9, 1932. He was married again to Alice Carpenter, April 1, 1934. She is left to mourn his going, as are also five children, Freda of Topeka; Harold, of Lawrence; Rosalie and Mrs. Mar¬garet Doty all of Rossville; and a step-son, Charles Carpenter. Other surviving relatives include one grand child; five brothers, Christopher, of Holton; Edward of Menoken; John of Dover; Albert and William of Rossville; three sisters, Mrs. Grace Kesler, Rossville; Mrs. Zella Elson and Mrs. Arminta McMullen of Fullerton, California. Except for two years spent in Col¬orado and a year in Wisconsin, Mr. Reser had spent practically all his life near here. He was a member of the Christian church, of kindly spirit, neighborly, and devoted to his family. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. Horton. Music was furnished by a quartet of ladies, Mrs. A. G. Wallerstedt, Mrs. Wm. Hesse, Mrs. C. E. Gresser and Mrs. E. E. Witter, accompanied by Miss Edith Higginbotham. | 9275 |  | Obituary- Reser, Monterville B. M.B. RESER DIED SUDDENLY Monteville Bood Reser, died very suddenly Tuesday forenoon at his home west of Cross Creek. A short time before he passed away he had been using a scythe cutting weeds in the street in front of his home. Death came as he sat in a chair. Mr. Reser, had for some time been troubled with heart trouble, but at the date of his death had been feel¬ing fine. Funeral services were held today at 2 o’clock at the home, conducted by Rev. G.G. Horne. Music for the service was furnished by Mrs. J.D. Fink, Miss Edith Higginbotham, Mrs. Peter Navarre, Mr. J.D. Fink and Rev. G.S. Pritchett. The pall bear¬ers included C.E. Cless, J.F. Zook, George Higginbotham, John Kesler, Frank Stumbaugh, and Ira T. Hop¬kins. The body was interred in Rossville cemetery. Mr. Reser was born at Georgetown Scott county, Kentucky, March 27, 1840, being 81 years, 5 months and 17 days old at the date of his decease. He came to Kansas in I860. He was married to Emma Lacock in 1874 who passed away in 1878. Two children were born to this union, out both are now de¬ceased. In 1881 he was married to Eunice Rife, a native of Calhoun, Mo. Six children were born to this union of whom five with the widow survive. They are Mrs. Mabel C. Ruff, Mrs. Edna L. Lynde, Mrs. Lillian E. Webb, Mr. Ernest L. Reser, all of Rossville; Mrs. Olive M. McGann, of Topeka. There are also eleven grandchildren surviving, one brother, Wyatt Reser of Rossville and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Sawyer, Topeka and Mrs. Harriett Sawyer, of Maple Hill. Mr. Reser was a member of the Christian church. He was one of our best known farmers who retired from active work about 11 years ago, moving to Rossville and buying what is known as the Devinney place for his home. The home farm is oc¬cupied by his son Ernest. Mr. Reser was a devoted husband and father, a genial and kindly neighbor and a faithful friend. His memory will be cherished by all who were so fortunate as to know him. | |

| 9280 |  | Obituary- Reser, William H. Obituary. [photo caption: Wm. Henry Reser.] William Henry Reser was born at Scott, Kentucky, Aug 6, 1837. At the age of 20 he moved to Indiana and a year later was married to Miss Agnes Reser. To this union were born 11 children. In the year 1870 they moved to Kansas, coming by way of steamboat to St. Louis and from there by way of rail to Topeka, Kansas. For three years they lived in the old Indianola hotel. Mr. Reser then took up a homestead in Pottawatomie county and lived on it until the year 1883 when the family moved to Rossville township where he purchased the farm owned by him ever since, three miles north of Rossville. Recently the farm was rented to J.C. Reser, the youngest son, and Mr. Reser and wife moved to the residence of his son, B.F. Reser, near the Cedar Bluff Mill. It was here Sunday evening, April 26, that he was struck with paralysis and remained in an unconscious condition until death came to his release at 7:10 o’clock the following Tuesday evening. He leaves to mourn his death, a wife and eight children – five sons, B.F., J.C., Roll, Zack and Wyatt Reser, and daughters, Mrs. Mart Nason, Mrs. Ed James and Mrs. John Shenk. Besides the immediate family are four brothers, M. Reser, Z. Reser, M.B. Reser and Wyatt Reser and three sisters, Mrs. John Sebring of Westmoreland, Mrs. Harriet Sawyer of near Eskridge, and Mrs. Sarah Sawyer of Topeka, to mourn his going away. Mr. Reser united with the Christian church at the age of 24 and was a faithful servant of the Master until his death. The funeral services were held in the Christian church at Rossville Wednesday afternoon, April 29, conducted by the Rev. Chas. Finch of the First Christian church, Topeka. A large concourse of sympathizing friends filled the church and many beautiful floral tributes banked the casket. The interment took place in Rossville city cemetery. Mr. Reser was a good citizen, holding the respect and esteem of a large circle of acquaintances and neighbors and his loss will be keenly felt by the community in which he lived. But he had rounded out a long life of usefulness and service and his death is but the transition of the faithful Christian to the joys of the life beyond. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Metho¬dist church conducted by Rev. G. G. Horne, of Topeka. Interment was in the family lot in Rossville ceme¬tery. Beside his widow he is survived by a son George, one daughter,, Mrs. Edith Stewart, one granddaughter, Miss Vida Reser, two brothers, M. B. and Wyatt Reser, two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Sawyer, of Topeka, and Mrs. Harriett Sawyer, Eskridge, and many other relatives in and around Ross¬ville. Zachariah Reser was born in Scott County, Ky., March 13, 1848. His parents were Wyatt and Nancy Reser natives of Kentucky, of whose thirteen children the survivors live in Kansas, representatives of a sturdy stock from which class came many pioneers hither. When Wyatt Reser and wife packed their household goods and children in the wagon that was to carry them out of their native state they headed for Indiana and on reaching that state located on a farm near Rising Sun. There they lived until 1866 when they were attracted to Kansas and again a long journey was made and land was secured near Topeka and on that place the parents of Zachariah Reser died in ad¬vanced age. Zachariah Reser was 18 years old when he accompanied his parents to this state. He had not been given many educational advantages as he was an older member of the large family and from boyhood had been obliged to work hard for his own sup¬port and to help others. He was a good son and did his duty. In the course of time he secured a home¬stead in Pottawatomie County and later sold it and came to Shawnee county and bought 60 acres to which he added until at the time of his re¬tirement from farm work he owned 400 acres of fine land. In 1868 Mr. Reser returned to Indiana and was married there to Lizzie Meyers, who died three years later. On January 17, 1883, Mr. Reser was married to Mary Alice Lemon, who with their two children survive him. | |

About the middle of August she had a fall at the sanitarium into a trench workmen had dug in making re¬pairs to the heating plant, but beside being bruised considerably the doctors did not think the fall was a cause of her death. She had been in ill health for years and her infirmities and old age were the main cause. The body was brought to Ross¬ville last Sunday on the morning train and the funeral held at the M.E. church conducted by the Rev. Manion of the Olive Branch U.B. church. She was born November 21,1920 in Holton, Kansas to Paul and Martha Baehni. From 1962 to 1975 she worked alongside her husband, Bud Revell, as office manager in Revell Moving & Storage. She was a devoted wife, mother & grandmother. Bud was a truck driver when he met and fell in love with the cute little waitress named Donna, at Martha's Cafe & Bus Depot in Holton. Bud and Donna were married August 31,1940, in Concordia, Kansas. In 1943 Donna was a Rosie the Riveter at Boeing and a caring mother of their only child Phyllis. She was preceded in death by her husband Bud in 1999, her sisters Verna Kocher and Ruby Reed and her brother Ted Baehni. Survivors are Phyllis Revell Kilts and Bill Kilts, Ozawkie, KS, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. | 9287 |  | Obituary- Reynolds, Charles Charles Edward Reynolds Charles E. Reynolds was born Sept. 19, 1888 at Ft. Scott Kansas, and died Jan. 20 1937, following an automobile accident on the White road two miles east of Delia, Jackson Co., on Sunday night Jan 17. He was brought to a hospital in Topeka where he died Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Reynolds began his life’s work at Ogden, Kansas, almost a quarter century since. At the time of the fatal accident he had been with the U.P.R.R. Co., for 25 years, twelve of which he spent as Agent in Delia. Mr. Reynolds was a member of a League known as The Ex-Marines. He was active in Masonic circles, serving as secretary and as Past Master of the Delia Lodge; an honorary member of the Eastern Star. Charles Reynolds, deeply interested in radio was a member of the Kaw Valley Radio club. He was a member of the Kansas Avenue M.E. Church, Topeka. In 1913 at St. Marys, Kans., he was wedded to Miss Ruth Mohler. Four children blest this union. Lucille Reynolds Simecka of Kansas City, Kans.; Mrs. Noel Hortline of Junction City, the two daughters; Mr. Charles Reynolds jr. of Ft. Lewis Wash., and Donald of the home. The survivors in addition to the children are the widow, who will carry on with Donald in Delia; his mother, Mrs. Sarah O’Brien of Ft. Scott; a sister, Mrs. Lydia Manges of Ft. Scott, three brothers, Mr. James Reynolds, Ft. Scott, Mr. Frank Reynolds, Los Angeles; Mr. Clarence Reynolds of South Dakota. The funeral was held in the Penwell chapel in Topeka, Saturday afternoon. Rev. Bruce W. Davis, Presbyterian Minister officiated. The pall-bearers were chosen from the League of Ex-Marines. A flag was draped upon the casket. Due to the delay caused by inclement weather Charles Junior failed to arrive in time for the services. The mother therefore withheld commitment until Sunday morning after the son had seen his father. The Masonic order completed the committal services at Memorial Park cemetery. DOD 01-20-1937 DEATH FOLLOWS HURT IN MOTOR CAR CRASH Charles Edward Reynolds, 48, Union Pacific station agent at Delia, died Tuesday in Stormont hospital from injuries received in a motor car accident Sunday night near Delia. His motor car skidded on an icy road and turned over. He suffered a fracture at the base of his skull. He had been an employee of the Union Pacific 24 years. Mr. Reynolds worked for five years for the Kansas Department of Revenue and was a computer operator at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Topeka for 20 years before retiring in 1981. He was born Oct. 9,1939, in Vermillion, the son of John and Ruth Bidlake Reynolds. He was raised in Vermillion and graduated from Vermillion High School. He attended Washburn University in Topeka. Mr. Reynolds was a member of the Rossville Christian Church and past president and secre¬tary of [he Rossville Lions Club. He married Ruth Valcoure on Jan. 14,1967, in Aurora. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Darren Reynolds, Topeka; a daughter, Lisa Ray, Topeka; a sister, Donna Blocker, in Arkansas; a brother, Date Reynolds, address unavailable; and two grandchildren. | 9289 |  | Obituary- Rezac, Delaine DELAINE REZAC Delaine Rezac, 86, died Jan. 3, 2006 at his home at St. Marys. He was born Oct. 8,1919 near Emmett, the son of Godfrey A. and Rose Schoemann Rezac. Delaine graduated from Emmett High School in 1938, worked on area farms, then was a meat cutter for a store in St. Marys. He married Phyllis Hershey, May 2, 1942. She survives. Delaine a, Phyllis established Rezac Livestock Commission Co., St. Marys, May 7, 19^7. They have operated the business along with their three sons until the present. He has been a packer buyer and was a livestock dealer for 60 years. He was a part of the Rezac Land and Cattle Co. family farm operation. Delaine served on the St. Marys High School Board. He was affiliated with the St. Marys United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Livestock Marketing Association, Kansas Livestock Association and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Harold Rezac and daughter-in-law Patricia Rezac. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister Maxine Flanary, three sons and their families; Kenneth and Christina Rezac, Lynn Rezac, Dennis and Nancy Rezac, all of St. Marys. Grandchildren include Holly Grieb, Deanne Liska, Cindy Rezac, Dustin Rezac and Darcie Rezac. He was born Feb. 17, 1904, at Rossville, the son of James and Victoria Macha Rezac. Mr. Rezac was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Hesperian Lodge No. 111, AF&AM, and served on the Shawnee County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service committee for several years. He was married to Ruby Steele Nov. 24, 1928, at Kansas City, Kan. They lived one year at Dover, eight years at Emmett and since 1938 north of Rossville. She died March 11, 1990. | 9294 |  | Obituary- Rezac, Ernest E. Ernest E. Rezac Ernest E. “Ernie” Rezac, 85, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the Medical Lodge of Jackson County in Holton. He was born October 28, 1932 at Emmett, the son of Ernest W. and Ruby Steele Rezac. He grew up in the Rossville community and at-tended Twin Rose Country School. Ernie graduated from Rossville High School. He served in the US Army during the Korean War from February 10, 1953 until January 18, 1955. Ernie was a farmer and stockman all of his life. He raised cattle into his 80’s. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Nancy Dickerson in 1986. On December 13, 1952 he was united in marriage to Martha Wood in Rossville. They just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his son, David (Vicki) Rezac, Delia; his daughter, Janice (Dennis) Prior, Rossville; a brother, Darrel Rezac, Rossville; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Graveside services were at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Rezac laid in state and the family received friends on Friday, January, 12, 2018 from 6:00 until 7:30 P.M. at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. Interment was in the Rossville Cemetery.
