| 11051 |  | Obituary- Wyatt, F. Marion Wyatt Died, Wednesday, July 27th, 1892, F.M. Wyatt, aged 56 years. Funeral services were conducted at Dr. H.H. Miller's residence, Thursday morning. The discourse was delivered by Rev. J.G. Maver, who spoke from Philippians 1st, last clause of 21st verse: "To die is gain." The reverend gentleman treated in a convincing manner of the reality, the fullness and the perpetuity of the "gain" that death brings to the Christian, and stated that the Christian's hope was that which solaced the deceased when the hour of death drew near and earthly things receded. Hymns suitable to the occasion were sung by the Presbyterian choir, with Miss Nettie Howard at the organ. Mr. Wyatt was injured in a railroad accident about a year ago, and from that time to the day of his death he was more or less an invalid, and his death was hastened by cancer of the stomach. His home was at Horton, but he was well known in Rossville, where he once resided. He was brother to Mrs. H.H. Miller, Mrs. E. Partello [sic- Partelow] and Perry Wyatt. | |

She lived at Lecompton from 1949 to 1975 before she moved to Elmont. Mrs. Wyatt was a member of the United Methodist Church at Osage City. She was married to John Robert Wyatt April 22, 1919, at Delia. He died June 12, 1975. A daughter, Mrs. June Green, died Oct. 28, 1979. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Geneva Farrell, Mrs. Margie Mulanax, Mrs. Loveign Ostrander and Joyce Wyatt, all of Topeka; seven sons, Robert G. Wyatt, Evanston, Ill., Glen Wyatt, Belvue, Neb., Howard Wyatt, Andover, Marion Wyatt and Lloyd Wyatt, both of Topeka, Duane Wyatt, Osage City, and Dwight Wyatt, Porter, Texas; 41 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Burial will be in Half-Day Cemetery at Elmont. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, October 27th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Fr. Dhan Raj Marneni and Fr. Mark Maresh will officiate. OBITUARY: GLENN ‘TOM’ WYATT Glenn ‘Tom’ Wyatt, the son of Kiah and Margaret (Johnson) Wyatt, was bom in Minden, Nebraska on February 16, 1932 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on October 21, 2016, at the age of 84. He grew up in Minden and graduated from Delia High School. Tom was married to Mavis Jean Taylor on February 17, 1951 at Topeka, Kansas. They lived in Delia, Kansas, where he worked for Good Year. In 1974 they moved to Aurora, where he worked at IAMS until he retired. In 1995, they moved to Henderson, North Carolina for two years. Upon returning to Aurora in 1997, Tom worked for Aurora Public Schools, City of Aurora Parks Department and working harvest for Mike Hawthorne. Mavis passed away on December 26, 2010. Tom enjoyed farming, visiting, coffee at Casey’s, car racing, rodeos, his dog Bo and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two great-grandsons; son-in-law, Larry McKinnon and four brothers, Bob, Jerry, Larry and Harley Wyatt. Those left to cherish his memory are his four children, Debra McKinnon of Aurora, Tom (Paula) Wyatt of Grand Island, Chris Wyatt of Obion, Tennessee and Michelle Perry & Dan Vanboening of Blue Hill; 7 grandchildren, Earl (Adriana) McKinnon of Martinez, California, Mark McKinnon of Dallas, Georgia , Sara McKinnon of Bradshaw, Tera Wyatt of Aurora, Brock (Jenny) Wyatt of Waverly, Tyler Perry of Aurora and Whitney Perry of Lincoln; 11 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Dorothy (Jim) Paul of California and Hazel Eastman of Colorado and many other family members and friends. | |

Died The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Andy Wyatt. The baby was born January 1, and died Sunday March 11, 1917. He was thus but 10 weeks old. The mother and father are both sick in bed at the present. A brief service was held at the house Monday afternoon by Rev. Groat and interment was made in the Silver Lake cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt live about three miles north of Silver Lake. | |

He was born November 17, 1878, at West Liberty, Ky., and settled near Silver Lake in 1892. He was a member of the Silver Lake Baptist Church and the Silver Lake I.O.O.F. lodge. Mr. Wyatt was married to Theodocia Lewis, of West Liberty in 1903. In addition to his widow he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Lambert, Silver Lake; three sons, Leslie M. Wyatt, Topeka, and J. Estel and Vernon M. John Robert Wyatt Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home for John Robert Wyatt, 76, Lecompton, who died Thursday in a Topeka hospital after a short illness. He was born Jan. 14, 1899, in Maysville, Ky. He had lived in Lecompton 25 years and was a retired carpenter. He was married April 22, 1919, to Flossie Graham in Delia. She survives. | 11061 |  | Obituary- Wyatt, Kirk Kirk A. Wyatt Kirk A. Wyatt, 89, 7150 N. Highway 75, died Monday, July 30, at a Topeka hospital. Mr. Wyatt was a calendar operator and mill man for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. at Topeka from 1945 until he retired in 1962. He was employed by liquor stores in the Oakland and North Topeka areas from 1962 to 1978. He was born July 23, 1895, at Lewisburg, Ky., the son of Isaac and Martha Ellen McDaniel Wyatt. He moved to Kansas with his parents in 1903 and lived many years in the Rossville and Delia communities before he moved to Elmont in 1946. He was a former member of Local No. 307 of United Rubber Workers in Topeka. He was married to Murel King Edwards Feb. 14, 1946. She survives. He was preceded in death by two sons, Jimmie Joe Wyatt and Robert Wyatt. Other survivors include four sons, Harley Wyatt, Hastings, Neb., Glen T. Wyatt, Aurora, Neb., Larry Wyatt, Arvada, Colo., and Gerald Wyatt, Houston, Texas; four daughters, Mrs. Felicia Gottlieb, West Palm Beach, Fla., Mrs. Gwenetha Keppler, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Mrs. Dorothy Paul, Apple Valley, Calif., and Mrs. Hazel Schmelzle, Topeka; a stepson, Ernest Lee Edwards, Milpitas, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Maxine Rodrigues, Milpitas, Calif., and Mrs. Charlene McClain, Carbondale; 28 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She suffered a stroke on Monday of last week and passed away Saturday. she is survived by her husband, one daughter Mrs. Fisher, of Harris, and two step-daughters. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 o'clock in the Rossville Christian church. Interment was in the Rossville cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt are former Rossville residents and lived on farms near town for a number of years. Mr. Wyatt was visiting relatives in Kentucky at the time of his wife's death but was unable to reach home for the funeral. | |

Perry was an old time resident of Rossville, leaving here about 18 years ago with his family and taking up their residence in Topeka. He was an uncle of Dr. H.B. Miller, of this city, being the brother of the latter's mother. The funeral service was held at the Penwell chapel in Topeka. Mr. Wyatt is survived by Mrs. Wyatt and two daughters, Mrs. Anna Griffin of near Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Ella Melton, of Ocean Park, Calif. Mrs. Wyatt makes her home with the latter. | |

He was born Sept. 6, 1923, at Minden, Neb. Mr. Wyatt was a Goodyear employee 27 years. He moved to Topeka in 1953 and moved to Delia in 1966. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in India, Burma and China from 1943-44. He married Edna Marie Bent Oct. 8, 1949, at St. Joseph, Mo. She survives. Other survivors include five sons, Robert D. Wyatt, Lakin, Ronal D. Wyatt, of the home, Michael E. Wyatt, Hoyt; Patrick W. Wyatt, Garden City, and David S. Wyatt, of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kaih Wyatt, Elmont; four brothers, Harley Wyatt, Hastings, Neb.; Tom Wyatt, Aurora, Neb.; Larry Wyatt, Arvada, Colo., and Jerry Wyatt, Houston, Texas; two sisters, Dorothy Paul, Bentwater Air Force Base, England, and Hazel Schmelze, 812 Oakland, Topeka; six grandchildren. He was born March 14, 1953 in Holdrege, NE, the son of Robert C. and Edna M. (Bent) Wyatt. He was a 1971 graduate of Rossville High School. Ron was employed and later retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Topeka. He was a member of Rubber Workers Union Local No. 307. Survivors include four siblings, Bob (Linda) Wyatt, Raymond, KS, Mike (Joetta) Wyatt, Burlingame, KS, Pat (Edith) Wyatt, Pierceville, KS and Dave (Tracie) Wyatt, Hoyt, KS; his mother, Edna Wyatt, Lyons, KS; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews and “cousin” Ruby Groothuis and family of Nebraska. Wyatt, aged 73 years, 6 months and 4 days, died Wednesday morning, April 22, at 5 o’clock at her home three-fourths of a mile west of Grove. Mrs. Wyatt succumbed to an illness of about eleven days duration. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock in the Silver Lake Baptist church of which faith Mrs. Wyatt had been a member since girlhood. The body will be brought to Rossville cemetery for burial. Mrs. Wyatt had been a resident of Rossville and Silver Lake townships since September, 1891, when the family moved to Rossville from Morgan county, Kentucky, where she was born October 17, 1851. Beside her aged husband she is survived by eight children, four boys and four daughters. They are: John, of Silver Lake; Alva, of Maysville, Kentucky; Auty, of Sacramento, Calif.; Cleve, of Rossville; Mrs. W.W. Trimble, of Topeka; Mrs. Lula Forrest, of Sacramento, Calif.; Mrs. J.W. Barney and Mrs. Noah Trimble of Rossville. Two brothers and one sister also survive: H.W. Cottle of Topeka, John Howerton, of Lenox, Kentucky and Mrs. Tom Caskey, of Lenox, Kentucky. There are twenty-two grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. | |

She was born Nov. 15,1913, in Cherryvale, to Bert and Bessie Paige Hayes, and lived in St. Marys many years. She was a hairdresser and owned and operated a beauty shop in St. Marys 60 years before she retired. She was a member of the Christian Church, in Rossville, and active in the United Methodist Church, in St. Marys. She was a member of Loyal Chapter No. 176 of Order of Eastern Star, in Silver Lake, and the auxiliary to Hoy-Heim Post No. 178 of the American Legion 34 years, in St. Marys. She married Chester Wyker in 1954. He died in 1967. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Pamela Pace, St. Marys; a brother, Lowell Hayes, in Colorado; two sisters, Pauline Henderson, Carrollton, Mo., and Bernita Niddiffer, Pampa, Texas; and three stepgrandsons. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery south of Belvue. Mrs. Wyker will lie in state from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys, where the auxiliary to Hoy-Heim Post No. 178 of the American Legion will conduct a service at 7 p.m. and visitation will follow until 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Marys Manor, Heart of America Hospice or the organization of the donor’s choice. | |
| 11070 |  | Obituary- Wyker, Leora 2 LeOra M. Hayes Wyker LeOra Mae Hayes Wyker, 88, died Saturday, January 26, 2002, at the St. Marys Manor. She was born November 15, 1913, in Cherryvale, the daughter of Bert and Bessie Paige Hayes. LeOra and her family moved to the Rossville community where she attended both grade and high school. After a beauty apprenticeship, she opened a beauty shop in St. Marys, retiring after 60 years of hair care. LeOra lived in St. Marys for many years. She was a member of the Rossville Christian Church, and was active in the United Methodist Church in St. Marys. She was a member of [tive] in the United Methodist Church in St. Marys. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Loyal Chapter No. 176 in Silver Lake, and. was a member of the American Legion Hoy Heim Auxiliary Unit 178 for 34 years in St. Marys. In 1954, she married Chester Wyker. He died in 1967. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Glen Hayes; and a sister, Audrey Gelsinger. Surviving her are a stepdaughter, Pamela Pace, St. Marys; a brother, Lowell Hayes, in Colorado; two sisters, Pauline Henderson, Carrollton, MO, and Bernita Niddiffer, Pampa, TX; three grandsons; six nephews and three nieces. A graveside service was at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday (this morning) in the Greenwood Cemetery south of Belvue. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery, Belvue. A family visitation at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home was Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:00. The American Legion Hoy Heim Auxiliary Unit 178 and Loyal Chapter No. 176 conducted memorial services at the funeral home. He was born Aug. 10, 1958, in Wamego, the son of Connie Wilburn Yates and Harold Jay Yates, both of whom have passed before him. Lee graduated from Wamego High School. He worked in the interior construction and drywall trade for more than 30 years. Lee married Suzie Redmon in 1978 and they had 34 wonderful years together. They were blessed with two daughters, Amanda Yates of Overland Park and Jessie Yates of Silver Lake. He loved to proudly support his daughters as they participated in their many sports activities. He founded, owned and operated Yingling Auto Service Center and was a cattle rancher. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Topeka. Larry married Peggy Eileen Fry on October 9, 1953 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include his son, Brian (Paula), son, Blake (Jackie), daughter, Cynthia (John) Mitchell, St. Mary’s and daugh¬ter, Calla (Kelly) Haggard and sister, Shirley Farrell. Larry has 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Brent. Mrs. Yingling owned and operated the Dynamite Cafe on W. 6th in Topeka, and later operated the Highway 24 Auction and Pin Oak Antiques, She also had worked at the Ira Price Cafe in North Topeka. She was born June 1, 1914, in Delia, the daughter of Jerome and Cynthia Lemon Carothers. She lived several years with Frank and Vera Haynes at Grantville. She was graduated from Seaman High School. Mrs. Yingling was a member of the United Methodist Church in Grantville and a seniors bowling league at Gage Bowl North in Topeka. She volunteered at the Veterans Administration Hospital, and for the Red Cross, Easter Seals, and Can Help. She was married to Dorwin E. Yingling March 22, 1933, in Topeka. He died in 1974. A grandson, Brent Yingling, died in 1992. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley S. Farrell, Topeka; a son, Larry Yingling, Topeka; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Grantville. Burial will be in Grantville Cemetery. Yocum, Pioneer Business Man, Dead After Brief Illness The people of Rossville were shocked beyond expression last Friday morning about 10:30 when the word was passed telling of the decease of Dave Yocum at his home. Many had seen him as he passed along the street as usual earlier in the day to open his store. His last illness began during the night, but he rallied and felt capable of going about his business as usual. However, sometime after he opened the store he began feeling ill again and sought his physicians. He was advised to go home, which he did. It was only a short time thereafter until he expired. The deceased gentleman was the last of our early day business men. During his business career he was successfully painter, decorator, restaurant man and general merchant. During his long career here he had gained the respect and esteem of the people and was known as a square man, generous and kindhearted to the extreme. The last venture in the mercantile business began only a few months ago, after a year's absence while he and Mrs. Yocum lived on their farm northeast of town. Mrs. Yocum plans to carry on as usual in the store to take care of the nice little business that has naturally returned to its founder. David W. Yocum was born in Perry County, Pennsylvania, April 27, 1858 and died on April 1st, 1927 at his home in Rossville. He came to Kansas in the year 1880 and since that time has resided in and near Rossville. He was united in marriage in 1901 to Rebecca Vorhies. In 1905 he affiliated with the Methodist church and until the time of his departure was one of their most faithful members. For the past few years he has been engaged in the mercantile business in Rossville. He was honest in all business transactions and respected by his fellow citizens. He was always willing and ready to assist in the work of the church and the upbuilding of his community. The funeral services were conducted Sunday, April 3rd at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church. Rev. G.C. Albin of Topeka the officiating minister was assisted by Rev. Pritchett. Interment was in the Rossville cemetery. Brown, where in the presence of his loving and devoted mother and dear aunt Mary he passed his young life over to the keeping of his Heavenly Father. Earl was sick only one short week with pneumonia when the Father called him home. He was employed as stock boy in the large dry goods store of D.C. Crawford and the manager said of him: "He was the best boy we have had in this department for 16 years - always so truthful, honest, polite and obliging. Ever ready to do the work mapped out for him. We never expect to get a boy to fill the place as Earl filled it." Take courage, mother, father and brother. Emma was born on January 5, 1934, on a farm north of Belvue, KS and spent her entire life in the St. Marys, KS area. She was the only daughter of Reinhardt and Vaneta (Cox) Pageler. She attended a one-room school north of Belvue, Belvue Grade School, and graduated from St. Marys High School in 1952. After graduation, she married her high school sweetheart. She worked as a clerk for Blue Cross and Blue Shield until she became a stay-at-home mother to raise their 4 boys. She later worked for the Standard Gas Station in St. Marys. She worked as a para-professional for USD 321 from where she retired in 1996. Emma filled her life with many activities in the community, including teaching Sunday School at St. Marys United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed dancing with the Swinging Squares. She and her husband, Nick were active in their children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Clarence “Nick” Yocum. They were married on September 13, 1953, at the Evangelical & Reformed Church-Wells Creek. Together they raised 4 sons. Steve Yocum, Lawrence, KS; John Yocum (Jennifer) Lawrence, KS; David Yocum (Kristi) St. George KS; James Yocum (Kerri) St. Marys KS. Emma and Nick are blessed with 9 Grandchildren. Born at Shannon City, Iowa, June 14, 1866, she came to Rossville with her parents, in 1900. She was a member of the Potwin Presbyterian Church W. C. T. U. and SBA. | 11086 |  | Obituary- Yoder, Maude Maude Ethel Yoder Maude Ethel Yoder was born in Soldier, Kansas, August 22, 1888, and passed away at Council Grove, Kansas, September 16, 1936. She moved with her parents to Rossville at the age of 1 year. After her graduation from the Rossville high school she taught three years, going from here to Philadelphia, Pa., where she entered the Blockley Hospital Training School for nurses. She was there about two years when she was called home by the death of her sister. She continued her nurse training in Kansas City for a short time and was married to John N. Yoder September 14, 1914. They moved to Campbell, Mo. and spent one year in a photograph studio, moving from there to Effingham, Ill. for a year then settled in Council Grove where they have lived since. Mrs. Yoder was a member of the S.B.A. lodge, the Business and Professional Womans Club besides various other clubs in Council Grove, and with her husband was active in the business and social affairs of the city. She is survived by her husband, John N. Yoder, her mother, Mrs. J.E. White, three sisters, Mrs. Ida McAdams, Minco, Okla., Mrs. F.R. Rice, Kansas City, Kans., Miss Grace White of Rossville; four brothers, Arthur E., C.P., and A.N. of Rossville, and James A. of Waukesha, Wis. | 11087 |  | Obituary- York, Charles Chas. York Dead News has been received by Rossville friends of the death of Charles York, 73, who passed away at 5 a.m. July 10. The immediate cause of death was cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. York fell from the roof of his home on July 2 and never reganed conscousness [sic regained consciousness]. Internment [sic interment] was in Englewood Park, Thursday, July 13. Mr. and Mrs. York are former Rossville residents. He spent his early life here on the farm southwest of town owned by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Berkey. Beside his widow, he is survived by one son Lawrence. Rossville friends have received word from Los Angeles, that Charlie York, fell from the roof of his home and was dangerously injured. The accident occurred Sunday, July 2nd and at the time the letter was written--July 6th, he was still unconscious. Both Mr. and Mrs. York are former Rossville citizens. | 11088 |  | Obituary- York, Henry Died, Sunday, February 16, 1902, at El Paso, Texas, Henry T. York, after a lingering illness. He was born September 8th, 1877, at Rossville, Kansas, where he has continuously resided with his parents until last fall when he was removed to Texas in the hope that a change of climate would prove beneficial to his failing health. He gradually grew weaker, however, until Sunday morning, February 16th, when the relatives in this city were summoned by that saddest of messages, “Come, Henry is dying.” Henry was attended throughout his fatal illness by the dearest of earthly friends – mother. His last moments were comforted by a mother’s gentle, soothing, loving ministrations. His brother Charlie and sister Emma, joined the mother in the faraway land and at the mother’s request, Henry was laid to rest in the beautiful El Paso cemetery, there to await the resurrection morn. Henry T. York graduated from the Kansas State Agricultural College, Manhattan, Kansas, in the Mechanical Engineering course, June 13, 1901. Later, he secured a position in a Manual Training school, at Ackley, Iowa, as assistant principal, where he taught Algebra and Geometry, Physics and Manual Training. His upright life and noble character won the love and respect of his pupils, associates and all with whom he came in contact. After a few months service in Ackley College he was forced to resign on account of failing health. Great sympathy goes out to the parents, brother and sisters of this gentle, kind and much loved young man, and to the hundreds who were bound to him by the strongest ties of friendship. As for Henry, nothing more need be added. It is well with him. | |

He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Moose Lodge of Topeka and the American Legion Post at Silver Lake. He was also a charter member of the Rossville Lions Club. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Esther Mary Young, of the home: a brother, Emerson Young, Ft. Scott, and two sisters, Mrs. Leota Cable and Mrs. Stella Waltmire, both of Ft. Scott. Funeral services were at 2 pm Tuesday at the Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. | |

His widow is the former Mrs. Iona Zirkle of Delia. Mr. Young was a representative of the State Department of Motor Vehicles in Modesto from 1958 to 1966. He was born in Oklahoma and served as veterans service office in the Sonora, Calif., office from 1945 until moving to the Modesto area in 1950. He served as DMV in surrounding communities as well. He was a veteran of the Navy in World War II. Survivors include his widow of Modesto; a sister: Lena Brinkley of North Carolina; three brothers: Clifford Young, Oklahoma; Vernon Young, of New Mexico; John Young, Tule Lake, California. Services and private inurnment were held in Modesto. Dale Young Private graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Richland for Dale Young, 66, Modesto, Calif., who died Jan. 4 in San Francisco. Cremation followed the death in California. He was born July 28, 1904, at Turkey Ford, Okla., and lived in California since 1930. He formerly served in the Navy 21 years and was employed by the California Motor Vehicle Dept., before he retired. He was married to the former Iona Zirkle. She survives. | 11096 |  | Obituary- Young, Oscar O. H. YOUNG Oscar H. Young died at 3:30 Tuesday morning at his home on Navarre street, after being bedfast for the past 15 months. He suffered a stroke of paralysis about 3 years ago and had been confined to his home since. Funeral services were held today at the Christian church conducted by Rev. G. G. Horne, the pastor. Burial was in Rossville cemetery. Mr. Young was a native of Walchville, Montgomery Co., Illinois, where he was born Jan. 27, 1857. On the date of his death he was 72 years and 23 days old. He was married to Martha J. Kerr at New Douglas, Illinois, Feb. 14, 1878 and in the fall of the same year came to Kansas locating at Rossville. Mr. Young at one time owned land southwest of town and also an 80 acre farm east of town, the house formerly standing a short distance south of the city cemetery. The family left the place in 1892 and moved into town and had resided here since. Mr. Young had been a member of Hesperian Lodge since 1886. At various times he had served as marshal of Rossville. Beside his widow he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Rosa Bixby and Mrs. Bertha James, both of this community; a brother, Elmer Young, of Topeka; eleven grand children and two great grandchildren. He served from 1950 to 1970 with the Western Pacific Fleet throughout the Pacific. His last assignment was on the nuclear submarine Sculpin at the rank of master machinist chief. He was born March 10, 1933, in Joplin, Mo., the son of John B. Zane Jr., and Katherine B. Hundertfund Zane. He moved to Silver Lake at an early age.
