| 4951 |  | Obituary- Davis, Donice 1 Donice Ione Davis Mrs. Donice Ione Davis, 57, Route 1, Rossville, died Friday, December 23, 1977, at her home of an apparent sudden heart attack. Mrs. Davis was born on June 9, 1920, at Topeka, the daughter of Dudley and Myrtle Marney. On August 23, 1941, she was married to Francis Davis. He survives. She was a member of the Rossville Christian Church. In addition to her husband, other survivors are two daughters, Sharon Davis and Candice Ann Davis, both of the home; her mother, Myrtle Marney, St. Mays; and one sister, Maxine Fryman, Blackfoot, Ida. Mrs. Davis will lie in state until about noon at Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka. Services will be at 2 Tuesday afternoon (today) at the Rossville Christian Church with interment to follow in the Rossville Cemetery. Casket bearers are Robert Marney, Marvin Davis, James Davis, John Davis, Glen Davis, and Dale Davis. She was born Aug. 5, 1927, north of Rossville, the daughter of Emial and Carrie Cerny Kovar. Mrs. Davis was a member of the Presbyterian Church and ZCBJ Lodge No. 128 and a charter member of Jimmie Lillard Unit No. 31 of the American Legion auxiliary, all in Rossville. She was married to Stanley A. Davis Jan. 31, 1947, in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Sage, Topeka, and Beverly Martinek, Branson, Mo.; her father Emial Kovar, Rossville; and three grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Presbyterian Church in Rossville. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Mrs. Davis will lie in state after 4 p.m. today at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. today. She was born August 5, 1927, at Rossville, the daughter of Emial and Carrie Cerny Kovar. She was married to Stanley A. Davis, January 31, 1947, in Topeka. He survives. She lived all of her live in the Rossville/Willard area. She taught school two years at Walnut Hill School north of Grove from 1945-1946. She then remained at home to raise her family. She worked at Sears from 1957 to 1975, when she retired. She was a member of the Rossville Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the Jimmy Lilliard Post 31 Auxiliary, and ZCBJ Lodge #128, Rossville. Other survivors include two daughters Carolyn Sage, Topeka, and Beverly Martinek, Branson, Mo.; three grandchildren; and her father, Emial Kovar, Rossville. Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rossville Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Davis will lie in state after 4 p.m. Tuesday (today) at Verschelden Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. She will lie in state at the church from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday. Dorothy, you were a joy to me for over 43 years as my wife, loving mother to our two children and grandmother to our three grandchildren. One of the most dreaded sentences a patient can hear is, “You have cancer.” These words bring a chill to the heart. An enthusiastic believer in Christ, Dorothy Davis lost her battle with cancer; however, her life demonstrated that even though the physical body may be destroyed by disease, the spirit can remain triumphant. Cancer is So Limited…. It Cannot Cripple A Love; It Cannot Shatter Hope; It Cannot Corrode Faith; It Cannot Eat Away Peace; It Cannot Destroy Confidence; It Cannot Kill Friendship; It Cannot Shut Out Memories; It Cannot Silence Courage; It Cannot Invade the Soul; It Cannot Reduce Eternal Life; It Cannot Lessen the Power of the Resurrection. If an incurable disease has invaded your life, refuse to let it touch your spirit. Your body can be severely afflicted, and life may become a great struggle. If you keep on trusting in God’s love, however, your spirit will remain strong. The many friends, family members, and acquaintances who visited us to show respect, to say good-bye, to show their love, and to be supportive of me during the past year represent the greatest tribute that anyone can be paid. I have been deeply touched as I realized just how many lives were influenced by Dorothy. The many memorials, kind notes and words that I have received are indicative of the high esteem people had for her. Attebury, of the death of Mrs. Edith Davis last Friday morning, June 29, 1951, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gwen Putney, in Glendale, Calif. Funeral services were held Monday. Mrs. Davis formerly was Edith Kline and her first husband was Wm. Dunaway, Union Pacific station Agent here for many years. Beside her daughter Gwen, she is survived by a brother, Mr. Tom Attebury of Rossville; two sisters Mrs. Gertrude Wallace of Rossville, and Mrs. Bessie O’Neil, Sacramento, Calif. | 4956 |  | Obituary- Davis, Elmer Elmer D. Davis ROSSVILLE -- Elmer D. Davis, 78, Rossville, died Wednesday, July 31, 1991, at a Topeka hospital. Mr. Davis was a printer-clerk in the Santa Fe Telegraph Office in Topeka from 1936 until 1962. He was elected secretary-treasurer of the Order of Railroad Telegraphers Union in 1962. The name was later changed to Transportation Communication Union, and he was elected general chairman of the union in 1968. He joined the Brotherhood of Railroad Clerks and became assistant to the vice general chairman when the two unions were merged in 1971. He retired in 1975. He farmed near Rossville until 1941, when he moved to Topeka. He was born Sept. 13, 1912, at Rossville, the son of Henry Hawkins and Blanch Baird Davis, and graduated in 1929 from Rossville High School. He lived in Topeka from 1941 until he returned to Rossville in 1974. Mr. Davis was an associate member of Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion in Rossville. He was married to Cora Mae Reser Feb. 8, 1937, in St. Marys. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Sally Coffman, Minneapolis, Minn., and Darlene Conway, Indianapolis, Ind.; a son, David H. Davis, Omaha, Neb.; two sisters, Catherine Haynes and Betty Pence, both of Topeka; a brother, Dale Davis, Topeka; nine grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Topeka. Mr. Davis will lie in state after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. | 4957 |  | Obituary- Davis, Elva Mrs. Marion Davis Elva Wyckoff Davis was born in Sumner county, Kansas, May 9, 1885, and died Tuesday, December 10, 1918, at the home of her parents near LaMont, Oklahoma, aged 33 year, 7 months and 1 day. Mr. and Mrs. Davis left Rossville Wednesday morning, November 27, to make a visit with her parents at LaMont, making the trip in their car. They arrived at their destination in the evening of the same day. On the following Sunday, December 1, Mr. Davis came down with influenza and Mrs. Davis became ill on Monday. Altho not fully recovered Marion left his bed to assist in the care of his wife, whose condition soon became critical when pneumonia developed. Everything that could be done in the way of careful nursing and good medical aid was of no avail and Mrs. Davis past away Tuesday, December 10. Mr. and Mrs. Davis had been married since February 28, 1917, and had lived on the L. P. Hartzell farm northeast of Rossville until just two weeks before the trip to Oklahoma when they had moved to the Mulvane ranch southwest of Rossville. Beside the husband Mrs. Davis is survived by her parents, two brothers, Fred and Lee, and one sister, Nellie. She was a good Christian girl, kind to all and always ready to sacrifice for others. The funeral was held Thursday, December 12, and interment made in the LaMont cemetery. | |

She was born May 4, 1884, at Rossville and spent most of her life in the Rossville community. She formerly taught in schools in the Rossville community. She was a member of the Rossville Christian church. She was married to Pascual Enos December 12, 1908. He died in September, 1947. She was married to Henry Davis in September, 1949. He died in 1970. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Underwood, Sunland, Calif., and Mrs. Mary Whitten, Topeka,; a son, Dr. Jack Enos, Yukon, Okla.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Catherine Haynes, and Mrs. Betty Pence, both of Topeka; four stepsons, Francis Davis, Dorr, Mich., Glen H. Davis, Elmer D. Davis, and Dale A. Davis, all of Topeka; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Burial was in Rossville Cemetery. Parker Mortuary had charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rossville Christian Church. She served seven years as treasurer of the Women’s Organization. She was married to John P. Davis Nov. 13, 1952. He survives. Other survivors include two sons, Clarence S. Services were on Tuesday, May 21, at the Rossville Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dwight Seneker officiating. Organ selections were played by Irene Campbell. Ushers for the church service were John Fauerbach and Emial Kovar. Mrs. Davis was born July 7, 1878, at Rossville and spent most of her life in the Rossville community. She was a member of the Rossville Presbyterian Church where she taught the adult Sunday School class many years. She was a graduate of the Flo Menninger Bible Course. She was a member of Amaryllis Chapter 321, Order of Eastern Star, in Rossville. In 1895, she married David Davis at Rossville. He died in 1947. A daughter, Mrs Bernice Neiswender, died in 1971. Survivors include a son, Marvin Davis, Rossville, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. Burial was in Rossville Cemetery under the direction of Parker Mortuary in Topeka. Casket bearers were Jim Rezac, Roy Wilt, Dr. Frederick Zickefoose, Ralph Page, Bill Farley and Joe Gresser. She was born July 7, 1878, at Rossville and spent most of her life in the Rossville community. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Rossville where she taught the adult Sunday school class many years. She was a graduate of the Flo V. Menninger Bible Course. He died April 8, 1982, at an Allegan, Mich., nursing home. He had cancer. He was born February 29, 1908, at Rossville, the son of Henry H. and Blanche Baird Davis. Mr. Davis worked at Los Angeles, Calif., Department of Water and Power most of his life. He moved to Michigan after he retired. He was a member of a Masonic Lodge at Los Angeles, and Wayland Post No. 7581 of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wayland. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. His wife, Mrs. Alice Smith Davis, survives. Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Haynes and Betty Pence, both of Topeka, and three brothers, Glen Davis, Holton, Dale Davis, Ozawkie, and Elmer Davis, Rossville. Military graveside services were conducted by Wayland Post No. 7581 of VFW in Burnips Cemetery, Burnips, Mich. Archer Hampel Funeral Home in Wayland, Mich. Was in charge of arrangements. He was born on Nov. 11, 1920, at Rossville, on the south side of the Mulvane Ranch, the son of Marion and Josephine Wells Davis. He was reared in West Liberty, Ky., as a young child, and moved to the Rossville area in 1936. He worked as a farm hand around Rossville, until he took the position of managing and operating the Mulvane ranch from 1952, until 1981. He was known as one of the finest cattlemen in the state of Kansas. He married Donice Ione Marney on Aug. 23, 1940, in Topeka. She preceded him in death on Dec.23, 1977. He was preceded in death also by his brother, Stanley A. Davis, and his half-brother, Ted Elkins. He was a member of the Kansas Livestock Association and the American Quarter Horse Association, from 1952 until his death. He married Louise Ronsse in 1982. She preceded him in death in 1994. Surviving are his two daughters, Sharon I. Pierce and her husband, Michael, Prescott, Ariz., and Candace A. Davis, Purdy, Mo.; two sisters, Helen June Thompson, Rossville, and Linda Korcal, Bullhead City, Ariz.; and one brother, Joseph Davis, St. Marys; and Louise’s children, Frank Ronsse, Peter Ronsse, Dennis Ronsse, Judith Pryor and Marian Sweeney. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rossville Christian Church. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Davis will lie in state from 2 until 6 p.m. Friday at Piper Funeral Chapel in Rossville, and after 6:30 p.m. at Rossville Christian Church. | 4966 |  | Obituary- Davis, Fred H. 1 Fred H. Davis, of Harrisonville, MO died on September 26, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Lee’s Summit, MO. While born in Topeka, he spent most of his growing up years on a farm north of Rossville, Kansas. Being a farm-boy, he learned the value of hard work. He developed a love for singing while driving a tractor, he said, because tractors in those days did not have radios. Later he sang solos at Christian gatherings and was a song leader in more than one church. He came to personal faith in Christ through Topeka Youth For Christ while still in high school. After graduating from Rossville Rural High School in 1962, he attended Kansas State University where he graduated with a degree in Chemistry and Secondary Education. He was active in Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF) at K-State and was chapter president his senior year. He also attended numerous IVCF camps at Bear Trap Ranch in Colorado Springs; Urbana Missionary Conferences in Champagne, IL, etc. Fred had a contagious sense of humor and a laugh where his face would turn red and his shoulders shake. He was like an old pair of shoes that wore extremely well. He was also mechanically inclined and loved to tinker and fix things, especially cars. Once he rebuilt the carburetor on his car, and when he put the lid over the carburetor air filter, unbeknown to him, a fly got trapped inside the carburetor and the head of the fly got sucked into one of the fuel inlets which hindered the flow of gas and made the car run rough. After trying unsuccessfully numerous times to solve the problem Fred finally took it to a professional mechanic who discovered what happened. He never did live that down. Fred later attended Midwestern Baptists Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO and became music director and educational director at several Baptist churches. During this time he met Ruth Krauss and they were married in August of 1969. In August they celebrated their 52th anniversary. She survives in Harrisonville, MO. Fred was way ahead of the curve when it came to computers. He started his own computer type-setting business where he would do business cards, fliers, brochures and about anything printed for individuals or businesses. He and Ruth enjoyed traveling to visit family in Kansas and Texas, as well as attending Christian concerts at Silver Dollar City and in Kansas City. Their "best ever" trip was to Israel a few years ago. | |
| 4967 |  | Obituary- Davis, Fred H. 2 One of the most life-changing things in Fred’s life occurred when he attended Focus Seminary in Kansas City, which was a personal-growth seminar patterned after a similar seminar founded by “Dr. Phil” McGraw (before he became a TV celebrity). Soon another similar, but more Christian-based seminar, began in Kansas City called Grace Adventure. Fred was on the leadership team of Grace Adventure for many years, where he impacted literally hundreds of lives. He was dearly loved. After semi-retiring from Grace Adventure, he worked part time for the Ford dealership in Harrisonville delivering and picking up cars from all around the country. He helped plant the Abiding Love Baptist Church in Harrisonville and was its first pastor. He and Ruth later joined and became active members at First Baptist Church in Lee’s Summit. A graveside celebration of life service for Fred will be held at the Rossville Cemetery, about 20 miles west of Topeka, at a later date to be announced. He had been ill. He was born July 15, 1943, near Rossville, to Marvin D. and Irene M. Lasswell Davis. He spent his early life in the Rossville community. He graduated from Rossville High School in 1961. He graduated from the College of Emporia and earned a master’s degree from Emporia State University. He earned a doctorate in education at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. He was the coordinator for Highland Community College on the Wamego campus. He began teaching at Marion Elementary School in Marion. He taught at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina. He was a teacher and administrator at several schools. He was a member of the Community Congregation Church in Maple Hill and Phi Delta Kappa and Kappa Delta Phi Greek letter societies. He married Trudi Mee on Sept. 1, 1963, in Maple Hill. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Warton, Rossville; two brothers, Ray D. Davis, Rossville, and Dean L. Davis, Maple Hill, and a grandchild. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Community Congregational Church in Maple Hill. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. He was born July 15, 1943, in rural Rossville, the son of Marvin D. and Irene M. Lasswell Davis. He grew up in the Rossville community where he was graduated from Rossville High School in 1961. He was graduated from the College of Emporia, and received his Master’s degree from Emporia State University. He had taught at Marymount College in Salina, and earlier served as an administrator at Rossville High School. He taught at Kansas Wesleyan in Salina and had started his teaching career at Marion Elementary School in Marion. Dr. Davis was a member of the Maple Hill Community Congregational Church, Maple Hill. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa and Kappa Delta Phi. He was also a Danforth Associate at Kansas Wesleyan. On September 1, 1963, he married Trudi Mee at Maple Hill. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Warton, Rossville; two brothers, Roy D. Davis, Rossville, and Dean L. Davis, Maple Hill; and a grandson. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 Tuesday (this evening) at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home, 714 Maple, St. Marys 66536. She worked several years in Chicago and later in Topeka for the Kansas Department of Transportation as a data entry operator before retiring in 1983. Mr. Davis died in a Topeka hospital following an extended illness with cancer. Born July 29, 1985, in West Liberty, Ky., he had lived most of his life in the Rossville community. He was a retired farmer and had served as Rossville Township trustee 26 years. Survivors include his widow; Mrs. Emma Davis, of the home; four sons: Francis Davis, of Dorr, Mich.; Glen H. Davis, Elmer D. Davis, D. A. Davis, all of Topeka; two daughters: Mrs. Catherine Haynes and Mrs. Betty Pence, both of Topeka; A step-son: Dr. Jack Enos, Yukon, Okla.; two step-daughters: Mrs. Margaret Underwood, Sunland, Calif.; Mrs. Mary Lou Whitten, Topeka; a brother: Denny Davis, Rossville; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. | 4975 |  | Obituary- Davis, Infant daughter DIED Died, Saturday morning, May 31st, aged about two months, the little daughter of Wesley and Samantha Davis. The death of this little girl came rather suddenly, and seemed to overwhelm the afflicted parents with grief. She was sick only two or three days, and looked, as she reposed in her white casket, more like a babe that at the bidding of the mother's lullaby had folded its arms and fallen asleep, than like one from whom the light of life had fled and around whom the curtains of the grave were so soon to be drawn. Funeral services were impressively performed Monday afternoon by the Rev. J.M. Whitehead, who based his remarks upon the inspiring answer given by the Shunammite women, who when asked concerning her departed child said, (II Kings IV:26), "It is well with the child." Suitable hymns were sung by a number of young people, who had assembled for that purpose. The remains were borne from the house to the hearse, and from the hearse to the grave, by youthful bearers, namely: Misses Emma Miller, Pet Lawrence, Maude Miles, and Mollie Starkey. Mr. and Mrs. Davis feel thankful to the many kind friends who gathered around them in their season of sorrow, some of whom were strangers until sympathy with the bereaved brought them to the house of mourning. Mrs. Davis was a member of Loyal Chapter No. 176 of the Order of the Eastern Star at Silver Lake, Rossville Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school and she was a 4-H leader in Rossville for many years. She married Marvin D. Davis on May 17, 1936, at Topeka. He died Sept. 14, 1991. Survivors include three sons, Roy D. Davis and Gene L. Davis, both of Rossville, and Dean L. Davis, Maple Hill; a sister, Lottie Lucas, Topeka; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home at St. Marys. | 4978 |  | Obituary- Davis, Irvin Irvin E. Davis A soldier son of a Burlingame family has given the "last full measure of sacrifice" on the battle fields of France. Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Davis, residing two miles north of Burlingame, received the following ill-fated message from the war department last Thursday morning: "Deeply regret to inform you that Private Irvin E. Davis is officially reported killed in action, August 10." The Davis family came here from Rossville nine years ago and purchased the Will Randall place. Both Mr. and Mrs. Davis and their family of sons and daughters have become well known in this locality and have many friends who learn with sorrow the death of the splendid young man their son and brother. Irvin Davis lived here but a little more than a year after the family came going from here to California where he was employed as a pumper in the oil fields. He was born at Kansas City, Kansas, August 1, 1889. He was called to the service from Coalinga, Calif., Nov. 3, 1917 and was sent to Camp Lewis, Wash. He was first assigned to the Co. I of the 361st Infantry. Upon being transferred to Camp Greene, S.D., he was placed in Co. E., Machine Gun Co., of the same regiment, and left Camp Mills, Long Island for overseas May 2nd of this year. Numerous letters have been received from Irvin since his arrival "over there," the last one so far received bearing the date of July 22. In this letter he speaks of having learned that his younger brother, Fred, who is a member of the 315th Engineers, 91st Division, was but a mile from where he was located and that he was going to endeavor to find him "as soon as this excitement is over." Other covert references have led the family to suspect that his company had been, or was soon to be in the front line. Nevertheless, the news of his death came as a great shock to his family and friends. his is the first death to be recorded from Burlingame in the great straggle across the water. The deceased is survived by his parents, four sisters and four brothers: Henry, of Oil Fields, California, Bertha, of Rossville, Mrs. E.E. Vorhies, of Rossville; Charlie, of Coalinga, California; Fred, in services overseas; Nettie Ruth and Clyde, of this place. Irvin was a young man who had always been exceedingly thoughtful of his mother. Among the mementoes she cherishes is a poppy blossom which came in a letter from France - the only gift it was possible to send at the time of her birthday. By a strange coincidence Mrs. Davis received a long letter from another mother with a son in France the day she received the notice of her son's death. This lady, though a stranger, was Mrs. G.W. DeForest of Laramie, Wyoming, the mother of Ernest DeForest, who was a pal of Irvin Davis, a fact she had but recently learned in a letter from Ernest. Had this lady known of the death of the Kansas lad, she could not have written a more comforting message than that contained in this letter from one mother to another. JOHN DAVIS KILLED WHEN HIS CAR AND BUS CRASH ________ John David Davis, 81, of Silver Lake, was killed late Friday afternoon, June 16, 1944, when the car he was driving and a Santa Fe bus collided. The car was demolished and Davis was thrown onto the side of the highway. Mr. Davis lived on a farm two miles north of Silver Lake and had been a resident of the community for many years. He was born September 22, 1862, at Linwood, Kansas, where he lived until he was fourteen years old. He later resided for a time in Oklahoma, Texas, and in the West. He had been farming in the Silver Lake community for twenty-nine years. He was a member of the Baptist Church. H. Wells, Boone Wells, Ray Wells, Edgar Wells and Warren Wells. Her request was to sing at the funeral “In the Sweet Bye and Bye,” “Shall We Gather at the River,” and “Will There Be Any Stars in My Crown.” She left a bright testimony and her life was lived for Christ. We cannot see her on earth again, but have the blessed assurance that we will meet her in heaven. Her request for the scripture reading was II Timothy 4:7, 8, as follows: “I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at the day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” -- West Liberty, Ky. She attended Rock Grade School and was graduated from St. Marys High School in 1943. She attended Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison and had taught at Rock School, Adrian School and Sandy Hook School, all near St. Marys. Mrs. Davis was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Parent-Teacher Association, both in St. Marys. She had been a member and an officer of the Shawnee County Optometric Assistants Association. She was married to Frank R. Ronsse Aug. 13, 1946. He died March 9, 1957. She was married to Francis E. Davis Sept. 23, 1982. He survives. She was born March 10, 1917, in Osage City, the daughter of Roy Franklin and Nellie Cappen Bickford. She was the oldest of 13 children. Mrs. Davis attended grade school in Burlingame and was a 1934 graduate of Waverly High School. She helped her husband farm near Rossville until they moved to Topeka in 1954. She retired from Memorial Union Food Service at Washburn University in 1979, after nearly 20 years of service. She was a past member of the Rossville Christian Church and, at the time of her death, was a member of the First Christian Church in Holton. She was married to Glen H. “Buzz” Davis December 5, 1937, in Lyndon. He died August 12, 1985. Survivors include two sons, Ronald Lee Davis and Dennis Glen Davis, both of Topeka; four sisters, Arlene Nott, Barbara Minden, and Janice Sue Stewart, all of Topeka, and Betty Mayo, Filer, Ida.; four brothers, Leo Bickford and Kenneth Bickford, both of Holton, Clifford Bickford, Sterling, and Leland Bickford, Bella Vista, Ark.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He had served on the USD No. 321 School Board for six years. He was also a member of the Rossville Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Gene Davis. On Oct. 15, 1960, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Parker in Rossville. She survives at home.
