| 8902 |  | Obituary- Peel, Annette Annette Peel Annette Peel, 57, of Silver Lake, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2015. She was born August 30, 1957, in Marquette, Michigan, the daughter of Ralph and Phidelia (Patterson) Alvord. Annette was raised in Ethelsville, Alabama and attended school there before her family moved to Tampa Bay, Florida where she attended Tampa Bay High School. Annette was employed by the Rossville Grade School as a Paraprofessional working with children with disabilities. She was also a member of the Baptist Church. Annette married Donald “Don” Peel on August 25, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He survives. She is also survived by her son, Eric Alvord (Brooke); mother, Phidelia Alvord; brother, Steve Patterson; sister, Trisha Harsin; three grandsons, Tristin, Gavin and Cody; 1 great-grandson, Robby; niece, Shelby Harsin; and nephews, Thomas and Marco Gobin. Additional survivors include several uncles and cousins of the Patterson family in Mississippi and Alabama. She was preceded in death by her father and sister, Mary Blanko. Annette loved children, enjoyed helping others, going to garage sales and cooking. She was a friend to so many and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A Celebration of Annette’s Life is pending. Private interment of the cremated remains will be at a later date in Florida. | 8903 |  | Obituary- Peery, Betty Mrs. Betty Lee Peery ROSSVILLE — Mrs. Betty Lee Peery, 65, Rossville, died Thursday, April 11, 1991, at a Topeka hospital. She was born Nov. 7, 1925, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Samuel and Ethel Beck Smith. She and her husband lived in Texas, Arkansas and California before she moved to the. Rossville community about 10 years ago. Mrs. Peery was a member of Levick-Barrett Unit No. 282 of the American Legion Auxiliary in Wetmore. She was married to Jason U. Peery April 25, 1942, in Texas. He died in 1979. Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Love, Wetmore; three sons, Floyd Peery, Hopland, Calif., Thomas Peery, Ethel, Wash., and James Peery, La Grange, Ga.; five sisters, Vera Drake, St. Joseph, Mo., Wanda Kinzel, Kansas City, Kan., Luella McConnell and Phyllis Marney, both of Rossville, and Neva Padgett, Topeka; three brothers, Harold Smith, in Indiana, Lloyd Smith, Denver, Colo., and Thomas Smith, Topeka; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys. Cremation is planned. Mrs. Peery will lie in state after 9 a m. Sunday at the funeral home where relatives and friends will meet from 2 until 3 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association. | |
| 8904 |  | Obituary- Pekarek, Lodi Lodi Pekarek Lodi Pekarek, 67, 1315 N. Jackson, died Wednesday at a Topeka hospital. He was born Aug. 23, 1914, at Austin, Minn., the son of Frank J. and Alouise Pekarek, and lived in Topeka most of his life. Mr. Pekarek was a retired maintenance man at Washburn University. He married Dorothy M. Porter April 23, 1941, in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Carol Bibert, Dover, and Sherrill L. Pekarek and Mrs. Barbara A. Stewart, both of Topeka; a son, Larry W. Pekarek, Topeka; three sisters, Mrs. Rose Hutchings and Mrs. Ella Myers, both of Topeka, and Mrs. Alouise Davis, Rossville; a brother, Frank J. Pekarek, Manitou Springs, Colo.; and six grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Parker-Price Mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Topeka. | 8905 |  | Obituary- Pelfrey, Everett Everett Pelfrey Dies Of Heart Attack Everett Pelfrey, 72, of Rossville died at a Topeka hospital Saturday about an hour after arrival. He had a heart ailment. He was born May 26, 1894 at West Liberty, Ky., and spent his early life in Kentucky where he taught in schools. He had lived at Rossville 45 years. He was a farmer during his early days in Rossville and had served 25 years as postmaster at Rossville before he retired in Sept. 1963. He was a member of the Rossville Christian Church and was serving on the Rossville City Council. Survivors included his wife, Mrs. Ora M. Pelfrey, at home; a son, Gene Pelfrey, Rossville; a daughter, Mrs. Kathleen Stalker, Fort Lewis, Wash.; a half- brother, Roy McClain, Delia; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Bailey, Mesa, Ariz.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services were at 2p.m. Wednesday at the Rossville Christian Church with burial in Rossville Cemetery. Parker Mortuary of Topeka was in charge of arrangements. | |

Pelfrey, was born at West Liberty, Kentucky, December 23rd, 1870, and departed this life at the home of his son, Everett, September 15, 1950, at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 23 days. He was married to Lodesca McClain June 1, 1893 and to this union two children were born, Everett and Ethel. Mr. Pelfrey resided in Morgan county, Kentucky, until he moved to Rossville in 1921. He was a good husband, a kind father and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was always doing kind and helpful deeds to those who were in need. He was a devoted Christian since the time of his conversion and baptism and was a member of the Christian Church. He leaves to mourn his departing, his wife, Lodesca; two sons, Roy and Everett of Rossville; a daughter, Mrs. V. H. Bailey, of Littleton, Colorado; fifteen grandchildren; 19 great¬grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, September 17, at 2:30 at the Christian Church with the pastor, Maurice Graham officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Lorene Harth and Mrs. Maxine Trimble, with Mrs. Irene Campbell accompanist at the piano. Pallbearers were all grandchildren of the deceased including: Luther McClain, Thornton McClain, Vencille McClain, Harold Reser, Walter Preble and Gene Pelfrey. Burial was in Rossville City Cemetery. | |

She was born December 24, 1866 in West Liberty, Ky., and had lived in Rossville 36 years. She was a member of the Rossville Christian Church. She is survived by two sons, Everett Pelfrey, Rossville postmaster: and Roy McClain, Delia; a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Bailey, Florence. Colo.; two sisters, Mrs. Leora McClure, California, and Mrs. Katie McClain, West Liberty, Ky.; 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services were at 2 pm Wednesday at the Rossville Chris tian Church with Rev. Ben Duerfeldt officiating. Burial was in Rossville Cemetery with Hurley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. She was born on Jan. 10, 1959 at Waco, TX, the daughter of Elbert and Opal Stem Conner. Nancy graduated from Wabaunsee High School. Nancy was an LPN for Cotton-O’Neil for 22 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, step father, Walter L. Rice, Jr.; two brothers, Stephen E. Conner and Terry L. Conner. On May 26, 1979 Nancy was united in marriage to Randall G. Pelfrey in Rossville. Randy survives of the home. Other survivors include, her daughter, Sara R. (Lewis) Tams, Rossville; her son, John R. (Chelsea) Pelfrey, Rossville; two sisters, Judy L. (Stephen) O’Neil, San Bernardino, Calif., and Martha J. (Stephen) Cook, Topeka; a step-sister, Trudy K. (Gary) Filkins, Topeka; her brother, Jerry E. (Jaye) Conner, Topeka, two grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery. | 8911 |  | Obituary- Pelfrey, Ora 1 Ora Pelfrey Mrs. Ora M. Pelfrey, 80, formerly of Rossville, died Friday, March 30, 1979 at an El Paso, Texas, nursing home after a long illness. She was born March 9, 1899, at Ellington, Ky. She lived in Rossville from 1930 until about two years ago when she moved to El Paso to be near her daughter. Mrs. Pelfrey was a member of Rossville Christian Church and Amaryllis Chapter No. 321, Order of the Eastern Star, Rossville. She was married to Everett Pelfrey June 5, 1915, at Ellington, Ky. He died in 1967. Surviving is a son, Gene Pelfrey, Rossville; a daughter, Mrs. Kathleen Stalker, El Paso; two sisters, Mary Blackman, Grove Port, Ohio, and Myrtle Frisby, Fellsmere, Fla; a brother, Buck Williams, West Liberty, Ky.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Rossville Christian Church, Rossville. Burial as in Rossville Cemetery, Rossville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rossville Christian Church. | 8913 |  | Obituary- Pelle, Paul Paul A. Pelle Paul E. Pelle was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, August 12th, 1849, and died in Topeka, Kan., June 1, 1933, being 83 years, 9 months, and 19 days of age. He came to America when 17 years of age and later made a short visit to the land of his birth. He was a resident of Kansas for 63 years, 33 years of which time he was a merchant in Silver Lake. Mr. Pelle, or Pete, as he was familiarly known, was member of the City Council of Silver Lake for a number of years, upon his retirement from his position as Mayor, the council and city presented him with a beautiful rocking chair which he always prized. He was a member of Silver Lake lodge of the Ancient Order of United Workmen, serving as its Financier until he moved from Silver Lake to Topeka. His wife preceded him in death 20 years ago this fall, and his son Ed, 19 years ago. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Mabel Lynn of Topeka, and a son Fred L. Pelle of San Bernardino, Calif., and two step-daughters, Mrs. Minnie VanOrsdol, of Topeka; and Mrs. Margaret Witter of Rossville. Services were conducted by Rev. E.N. Judd at Silver Lake M.E. church, Saturday, June 3, 1933. Music was furnished by Mrs. Alden Goodno and Mrs. C.O. Shafer, with Mrs. Albert Shafer at the piano. The following friends acted as pallbearers: Ernest Landis, Everett Cutbirth, Ish Jeffries, Clarence Henry, Alden Goodno and Ross Cowperthwaite. | |

A large crowd gathered to pay their respects to mother, Penaz who was loved by all who knew her. She leaves to mourn her death, two daughters and one son who have the sympathy of their many friends. She was laid to rest by the side of her husband who died 13 years ago. Inter¬ment was made in the Bohemian cemetery, southeast of Delia. A minister from Cuba, Kansas, preached the funeral, but we did not learn his name. Mrs. Joe Penaz died last week at the home of her daughter in Delia, after an illness of many weeks. She was quite old. The interment was made in the Bohemian cemetery. She leaves to mourn her death several relatives and friends. | |

| 8917 |  | Obituary- Penaz, Elmer 3 ELMER PENAZ The whole community has been grieved and deeply saddened by the untimely death of Elmer Penaz who passed away in his home at Delia, September 10, 1935, after an illness of only a few days. The very fact that he was a promising youth of health and vigor, makes his passing the more of a shock to his relatives and friends. Elmer had spent all of his life in this community, having been born in Delia, July 4, 1912. He was educated in the Delia public schools, and later served both the grade and high school as janitor. He endeared himself to the pupils and to the teachers if the schools, to his many friends, and to the entire community, by his faithful and cheerful service, and by his cheery and helpful disposition. His ever-ready smile will long be remembered and missed. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. B. W. Davis at the Presbyterian church in Delia, on September 12. in the presence of a large assembly of friends who had met to pay tribute to one who was loved by all who knew him. The pallbearers were personal friends, and were attended by flower girls. He was laid to rest in the Bohemian cemetery, near Delia. He leaves to mourn his loss, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Penaz; his sister, Miss Lydia; other relatives and a host of friends. | |

In later years she moved to St. Joseph, Mo., where for a number of years she was a faithful member of the Christian Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and was a 50-year member of Loyal Chapter #176 Order of the Eastern Star, was a past worthy matron, and had served two years as president. Mrs. Pence also served as secretary-treasurer of the First District of the Auxiliary. She was a charter member of the Community Club of Silver Lake. She married Alle Earl Holcomb on November 24, 1917, at Oklahoma City. He died in 1967. She later was married to W. T. Pence for 10 years. He died in 1979. Sole survivor is a nephew, Stan Mitchell, Silver Lake. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Parker-Price Mortuary. Burial will be in the Silver Lake Cemetery. | 8930 |  | Obituary- Pendleton, Ira Ira N. Pendleton Ira N. Pendleton was born near Gates City, in Scott County Virginia, March 17, 1854. He passed away April 8, 1937, at the age of 83 years. On may 4, 1877 he was married to Rachel Jones of Sneedsville, Tennessee. To this union seven children were born: G.W. Pendleton, who has preceded him in death; Mrs. J.B. Davis of Silver Lake; Mrs. Albert Black of St. Marys; Robert Pendleton of Topeka; Dudley Pendleton of Wichita; Mrs. Merton Pennington of Leavenworth; Mrs. Ross Cowperthwaite of Silver Lake. Mr. Pendleton was a member of the Baptist church. He spent a good many years of his life on farms in Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky, and finally came to Kansas in December, 1909, where he has resided since on the same farm. Mr. Pendleton has always enjoyed life. He loved his friends, family and home. He was greatly admired for his hospitality for no one ever came into his home but what were made to feel heartily welcome. He was very good natured and kind always thinking of others’ needs before himself. He had a wonderful personality and character and will be greatly missed in the community and home. Besides his wife and children there are 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren who survive him. Ira N. Pendleton Ira N. Pendleton, 83, of Silver Lake, died Thursday morning at his home west of Silver Lake. The body was taken to Shellabarger’s mortuary. Funeral services were held Saturday from the Silver Lake Methodist church. Interment was in Silver Lake cemetery. Mr. Pendleton was born March 17, 1854, in Scott county, Virginia. He came to Kansas in 1909 and had been a resident of Shawnee county in the vicinity of Silver Lake about thirty years. He is survived by his widow and six children: Mrs. Norman Cowperthwaite and Mrs. J.B. Davis, of Silver Lake; Mrs. W.A. Black of St. Marys, Mrs. M.M. | 8931 |  | Obituary- Pendleton, Lorena 2 HEART ATTACK IS FATAL TO MRS. W. D. PENDLETON From the Atchison Globe. A victim of heart attack, the body of Mrs. Lulu Mosely Pendleton, 43, wife of W. D. Pendleton, district agent for the Kansas Life Insurance Co., was found lying on the floor of the insurance office at 703 ˝ Commercial street shortly after 12 o’clock today by her son, Warren Pendleton, Atchison high school student. Mrs. Pendleton had apparently been dead since shortly after 10 o’clock. Mrs. Pendleton came to the insurance office early this morning to look after some business matters for her husband, who is recuperating from a fractured ankle and who did not feel well enough this morning to come down town. G. H. Snyder, photographer, whose studio is in the same office building, talked to Mrs. Pendleton, at 8:30 o’clock this morning and she appeared to be in good health. At 10 o’clock Mrs. Pendleton called Armstrong Brothers to place a grocery order. Warren (“Pat”) Pendleton returned home from school and not finding his mother there called the office. When there was no response he walked from his home 321 North Tenth street, arriving at the office about 12:20 o’clock. The spring lock on the office door had accidently sprung shut and he gained admittance with his personal key. Mrs. Pendleton’s body was lying face down on the floor in front of an easy chair in which she apparently had been sitting and reading a newspaper. Coroner George Harouff said that Mrs. Pendleton had been dead for several hours. Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Pendleton moved to Atchison from Rossville 4 years ago, and in that short time Mrs. Pendleton had made a host of friends in Atchison. She was of a kindly disposition, an ideal wife and mother, and a splendid business woman. Lurana Jane Pendleton, daughter of the late Rachel and L. E. Moseley was born Aug. 19, 1886 at Rossville, Kansas, and departed this life at Atchison, Kan. April 1st, 1930, at the age of 43 years. She was married to W. D. Pendleton, March 12, 1909. To this union were born two children, Fern of Rossville, Kansas, Warren, of Atchison. Besides the husband and two children, she leaves to mourn her departure two sisters, Mrs. May Stiles, Eagle Bridge, N. Y. Mrs. Violet Cahill, Eskridge, Kansas, one brother Walter Moseley, Fort Worth Texas, an aunt Mrs. Chettie Howard, Rossville, with whom she made her home for a number of years, a number of other relatives and a host of friends. At an early age she gave her heart to the Master uniting with the Presbyterian church. Later she transferred her membership to the Methodist church where it remained at the time of her death. She lived at Rossville until Sept. 1926, when she with her family moved to Atchison, Kansas. Mrs. Pendleton was reared in this community and received her education in the Rossville school. After finishing high school she taught four years in the district schools. She took an active interest in civic affairs of this community. She was Worthy Matron of Amaryllis Chapter of the O.E.S. at Rossville, and was a member and active worker in the Literary and Music circle. Mrs. Pendleton was very worthy of the beautiful name Mother, for she was ever making sacrifices for her children and was ever a devoted wife. She possessed a wonderful personality and made friends easily and quickly and soon endeared herself to all who knew her. Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Methodist church conducted by the Rev. G. C. Albin of Topeka. Interment will be in Rossville cemetery. | |

Mr. Perine was an accountant for PR&W Electric Co-op Association for several years before working with Balderson’s, Inc. as an accountant and a computer programmer. He later was a self-employed computer programmer serving many of the area school districts, including Junction City, Manhattan, Wamego, Seaman, Olathe and Bonner Springs, and Lely Manufacturing Company in Independence, Mo. After semi-retiring, Jack provided programming services for Pottawatomie County during the last eight years. On June 18, 1950, Jack was united in marriage to Mary Jane “Tiny” Bledsoe at the Wamego United Methodist Church. They had shared over 47 years together. She survives. Other survivors include a son, S. Douglas Perine, Rossville, owner of Doug’s Healthmart and St. Marys Healthmart; a daughter, Susan Jane Nash, Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Norma Flawed, Overland Park; and four grandchildren. PERRY DIES OF INJURIES Alvin Joseph Perry, Junction City, a Kansas Power and Light Company lineman, died Sunday morning in a hospital here from injuries suffered June 17 in a power line accident. He was 46. The accident occurred when he was working near the top of a pole and came in contact with a high voltage wire, igniting his clothing. He was burned severely on the upper portion of his body. Born October 16, 1916 at St. Marys, he had lived in Junction City about four years, moving here from Rossville. Mr. Perry was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Rossville and First Methodist Church, Junction City. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of the home; one son, Kyle Perry, and two daughters, Mrs. Myrna Peabody, and Miss Lois Ann Perry, all of Junction City; his mother, Mrs. Ellen Perry, St. Marys; three sisters, Mrs. Lila Struble, St. Marys, and Mrs. Glora Lee James and Mrs. Delores Martin, both of Derby, Colo., and five brothers; George, Altus, Okla., Milton, Rossville, Clayton, St. Marys, Leo, Ulysses, and Paul, Route 1, Topeka. | 8941 |  | Obituary- Perry, Belle BELLE COTTLE PERRY Mrs. Belle Cottle Perry, 82, widow of Henry Perry, died Friday at her home on lower Elkfork in Kentucky after a long illness. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cottle of Licking River, Kentucky, and was a granddaughter of Joseph Cottle, Revolutionary War veteran who came to Morgan county in the early 1800’s. Mrs. Perry had been a member of the Baptist Church many years. Funeral was conducted Sunday in the Potter Chapel in West Liberty, Kentucky. Interment was in the John Henry cemetery near Pomp. Surviving are seven sons, Bryan, Newt, Ben Frank, Charley and Bill Perry of West Liberty; Chandler Perry of Osborn, Ohio, and Woodrow Perry of Yocum. The deceased lady was a daughter of the late Frank and Alice Cottle of Rossville. Surviving brothers and sisters are Joe and Goebel Cottle, Emma Waller of Topeka, Bessie Startup, Linnie Prater, Rae Trimble and Fannie Oldfield of Rossville. | |

She was born September 26, 1892, at Rossville. She lived in Rossville until 1953, and moved to Emmett where she resided until 1971 when she moved to St. Marys and resided at St. Marys Manor. She was a member of the Emmett United Methodist Church. She was married to Walter Van Vleck who died in 1921. She was married to Richard Perry in September of 1932 at Holton. He died in March of 1964. Survivors include four sons, Walter L. Van Vleck and Frank E. Van Vleck, Topeka, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Marvin Earl Van Vleck, Athens, Ga., and Omer L. Van Vleck, Rossville; two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Chilson, Federal Way, Wash., and Mrs. JoAnne VandeVelde, Emmett; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Finney, Simi Valley, Calif., and Mrs. Berna Freeman, Bakersfield, Calif.; 21 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Friends called at Verschelden Funeral Home from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Friday. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel. Burial was in the Rossville Cemetery. | 8944 |  | Obituary- Perry, Cletus Cletus L. Perry ST. MARYS — Cletus L. Perry, 83, St. Marys, died Thursday, June 24,2004, at a Topeka hospital. He was born April 13,1921, at St. Marys, the son of Frank J. and Mary Alice Sadler Perry. Mr. Perry had lived in the St. Marys community many years. He graduated from St. Marys High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the manager of the Co-Op Hardware Store in St. Marys for 37 years, retiring in 1983. After his retirement, he worked at Rezac Sale Barn and Brockish Plumbing, both in St. Marys. He was a member of St. Marys United Methodist Church, where he served as church treasurer for many years and was active in the building of Hammond Hall at the church. He married Dorothy Larison on Dec. 23,1942, at Salinas, Calif. She survives, of the home. Other survivors are a daughter, Sheryl Dick, Topeka; sons Ronald Perry, Lawrence, and Daniel “Joe” Perry, Emmett; a sister, Betty Hill, Oklahoma City; a brother, Richard Perry, Topeka; grandchildren, Mick Perry, Becky Seele, Jeff Dick and Jenny Dick; and nine great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in St. Marys. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery at St. Marys. She was born October 3, 1923 in rural Taylor County Iowa the daughter of Elmer and Thena Prather Larison. Mrs. Perry grew up in the Bedford, Iowa community and graduated from Bedford High School in 1940. She moved to the St. Marys community shortly after graduation. She was a bookkeeper for the Farmers Union Coop John Deer Hardware Store in St. Marys for many years. Mrs. Perry was also an Avon Representative for over 30 years and was a member of the Avon Presidents Club. She was a member of the St. Marys United Methodist Church. On December 23, 1942 she was united in marriage to Cletus L. Perry at Fort Ord, CA. He preceded her in death on June 24, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Duane (Tommy) Larison; an infant sister, Marjorie Lucille Larison and a granddaughter, Dana Lynn Perry. Survivors include two sons, Ronald D. (Carla) Perry, Lawrence and Dan "Joe" (Linda) Perry, Emmett; a daughter, Sheryl (Gary) Dick, Topeka; a brother, James (Betty) Larison, Cedar Rapids, IA.; grandchildren, Mick (Jennifer) Perry, Becky (Jason) Seele, Jeff (Hedi) Dick, Jenny (Justin) Hutton and Sarah (Dale) Nordlund; 13 great grandchildren. She was married to Charles Perry on Jan. 3, 1905, at St. Marys; he preceded her in death July 5, 1960. She was also preceded in death by a son, Alvin Perry, June 30, 1963. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Emmett and burial was in St. Clere cemetery. The deceased gentleman leaves three children of the home address; five brothers, Dick of Rossville; Will of St. Marys; Alva, of Delia; Ben of Havensville; Walter of K. C, Wyoming; and four sisters, Mrs. Bennie Kemper, Pasadena, Calif., Mrs. P. Seigle, Emmett; Mrs. Barney Flannery, Maple Hill; Mrs. Harley Seigle Orlando, Florida. He was also a cousin of Mrs. S. F. Perry, 84, entered eternal peace late Friday, February 29, 2008 at his home in St. Marys surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren. Fie was born October 29, 1923 in Oklahoma, the son of William and Sadie Perry. George was raised in St. Marys by Bill and Onie Perry. He graduated from St. Marys High School. SGM Perry served in the United States Army and upon release from active duty he was assigned to the Army Reserves. He was called back to active duty several times and retired from the Army National Guard in 1983 after serving 40 years in the military. Sergeant Major Perry was inducted into the Kansas National Guard Hall of Fame on 7 November 1993. Following retirement from the military he worked in various capacities for the city of St. Marys until the past several months. Service to his community was always a high priority for Mr. Perry. He had served as a Reserve Officer for the St. Marys Police Department for several years. George also served on the St. Marys Fire Department for many years and was an Honorary Member of both departments. He was Quartermaster and Founder of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in St. Marys. Mr. Perry was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Aubert-Walls VFW both in St. Marys. | |

Terri was married to Irvin Benjamin Huske, Jr. who preceded her in death. She was married to Richard Eugene Perry, who survives of the home. Also surviving are two daughters: Bev Lindstrom (Johnny) and Debbie Thompson (Jim) all of Silver Lake; a sister: Eva Stout of Spring Hill, FL; ten grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
