Obituary- Randall, Mildred
MILDRED RANDALL KILLED
IN CROSSING ACCIDENT
The community was shocked Sunday when news was received here of the death of Mrs. Mildred Conrad Randall, when the Randall car was struck by a Union Pacific train on a crossing at Kanapolis, Kan.

The accident occurred sometime after midnight Saturday as Mr. and Mrs. Randall were enroute to Hays, Kansas.

Details are meagre as Mr. Randall was terribly shocked by the collision, although escaping without serious injury. The car caught fire after the collision and burned.

Mrs. Randall lived only a short time after the accident.

I. B. Wilt of this, city, who had boarded the train at Ellsworth, assisted the trainmen in caring for the Randall’s and identified them. He was on his way to Rossville to spend Sunday with home folks.

Mr. and Mrs. Randall, in their car, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Conrad, of Topeka were enroute to Hays, where the latter were to make their home, having taken a job at the Hays Teachers’ college. Mr. and Mrs. Conrad started in the lead and somewhere enroute the Randall car took the lead. The parties had agreed to meet at a town father west After reaching the meeting place Mr. and Mrs. Conrad become worried when the Randall’s failed to appear and started back to hunt them. At about 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon they learned of the tragedy. They had stopped for breakfast in Ellsworth where their daughter had been taken following the accident, but did not learn of the accident until their return.

The body was brought to St. Marys, Monday. Funeral services were held in Immaculate Conception Catholic church, Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock and interment was in the St. Marys cemetery.

Rossville friends of the Conrad family and former school mates of Mildred, in great numbers attended the funeral.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Randall graduated from Rossville High school, he with the class of 1924 and she in the class of 1926.

Since their graduation and later marriage they had lived in Ohio, later returning to Kansas. Until a few days before her death Mrs. Randall had been employed for a few weeks in the local “Central office,” and was employed to teach this fall in Shawnee county near Dover.

Both were ambitious to improve their education and Mr. Randall was due to enter Hays college this fall.

The bereaved husband and parents have the sympathy of the Rossville people in the untimely death of the wife and daughter.

FLOYD W. RANKIN
This community was saddened again Saturday when the news came of the sudden and totally unexpected death of Floyd Rankin, of 818 West First street, Topeka, whose death occurred about noon Saturday in a Topeka hospital. He was always popular with his boyhood friends in this community and with the people he came in contact wherever he lived. Only a couple of days before his death he was in Rossville greeting friends while in the community with the oil truck he had been driving since becoming an employee of the Penn Lubricating Co.

Obituary- Rankin, William
Obituary- Rankin, William
Wm. Rankin, one of the pioneer residents of this city, died at his home on Orange street Tuesday evening, January 7th, after an illness of nine days, from pneumonia.

He was born in Philadelphia, Penn., April 6th, 1852 and at the time of his death was 55 years, 9 months and 1 day old. He came to Rossville from Illinois in 1879 and has lived the greater part of the time since in this vicinity. For many years he conducted the City Meat Market and gained a wide circle of friends and acquaintances who were immeasurably shocked to learn of his death.

The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church, Thursday, conducted by Evangelist Adams, of the Christian church. It was one of the largest funerals ever held here, the church being packed to its doors with sympathizing friends and neighbors. The floral decorations were profuse and handsome. Mr. Rankin was a member in good standing of the A.O.U.W. and carried $2,000 life insurance. The lodge attended in a body and had charge of the service at the grave in the city cemetery.

Mr. Rankin was a member of the Christian church, joining that organization in the year 1885. He leaves a wife, two sons and one daughter to mourn his departure. Three daughters and one son had preceded him to the mysterious beyond.

Mr. Rankin was a good citizen, a genial companion and won the esteem of all with whom he had to do. In his death the family suffer the loss of a kind and indulgent husband and father, and the community a worthy and valued member.

Obituary- Rasch, Linda
Obituary- Rasch, Linda
A beautiful life was cut short Wednesday, June 20, 2018. Linda Dennis Rasch died just two days after her birthday. She was born June 18, 1941 in Kingston, Oklahoma to Lois and Carlice Dennis. She was raised in Oklahoma and Kansas with her surviving siblings, Wendyl Dennis, Pete Dennis and her only sister, Sue Dennis Marchant.

Linda married the love of her life, Wayne, in 1961. While Wayne finished his college career, Linda provided a home for him and their children. Wayne was commissioned into the Army through the ROTC program. The Army brought the Rasch family to Augusta, Georgia. They moved to Athens in 1973.

Linda's career life was all about helping and enjoying people. She taught pre-school at First Presbyterian Church for many years. Her path changed and she began working for The Elephant Trunk, dressing young children, most of whom she had taught. After children's clothing, she made the change to adults. Linda worked at Heery's Clothes Closet for over 20 years. Countless loyal friends and customers wanted Linda to dress them. After retiring a few years ago, she enjoyed volunteering at her church, playing bridge, and spending quality time with her many friends. Her family was her heart and the core of her life. Linda was a genuine, generous, Christian woman, always thinking of others before herself.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Wayne Rasch. Her children Paul Rasch (Shirley), Chad Rasch, John David Rasch (Jennifer), and her only daughter Linsey Rasch Jarrett (Johnny) also survive Linda. She lost her beloved son, Brad Rasch just over a year ago. Also surviving Linda are her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Carli Rasch Bushoven (Scott), Millican Dennis Jarrett, Seele Hayes Jarrett, Hayes Bushoven, Wells Bushoven, Carrie Savage and Sutton Cummins. Several nieces and nephews in Oklahoma and Kansas also survive Linda.

A memorial service is planned for Monday, June 25, 2018 at 11 in the morning at Frist United Methodist Church in Athens, Georgia. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Weekday Preschool at 327 N. Lumpkin Street, Athens, Georgia 30601.
